Reporting to the Managing Director and sitting on the executive leadership team, this role combines strategic direction, team leadership, project oversight and business development. National travel is required.

Key responsibilities

- Develop and implement the heritage practice’s strategy, identifying opportunities for growth.
- Oversee complex heritage projects, ensuring technical excellence, strong client outcomes and commercial performance.
- Provide expert heritage advice and negotiate outcomes with clients, authorities and other stakeholders.
- Lead and develop the team, managing resources, workloads, performance and career progression.
- Oversee project budgets, financial performance and professional services risk.
- Collaborate with other business leaders and contribute to broader organisational strategy.

Ideal background

- 12+ years’ heritage experience, including demonstrated leadership experience.
- A Master’s in Heritage Conservation or a related qualification, plus ICOMOS accreditation as specified in the brief.
- Strong knowledge of Australian architectural history, building fabric and relevant heritage legislation.
- An established reputation as a heritage specialist, with experience resolving complex heritage issues.
- Strong commercial judgement, client relationship skills and the ability to build and lead a high-performing team.
