We have a number of exciting opportunities for Music Educators to join our staff team in 2027:

- Primary School Band Conductors for Training / Beginner and Intermediate Bands
- Primary School Brass Tutors
- Primary School Woodwind Tutors
- Primary School Drum / Percussion Tutors

We are looking for Band Conductors interested in a combination of conducting and tutoring work and Music Tutors who are either instrument specialists or multi-instrumentalist tutors . We do not offer tuition in Vocals, Violin or Piano and do not have work for these instruments.

About Us

Key Music Australia has been working with Primary School Band Programs for over 20 years. We provide Band Conductors for Beginner and Senior Bands and Music Tutors for Brass, Woodwind, and Percussion (primarily in group lessons) for primary school students in Years 3-6.

We currently work with 6 Primary Schools on the upper North Shore and surrounding areas, and expect this number to grow in the coming years. Our motto is ‘Making Band Fun’ and our Band Programs are focused on providing music education that is accessible and enjoyable for everyone.

About our Music Educators

We offer a variety of roles dependent on your background, skill set and interest. Our work is in school terms only. You must be available to commence ongoing work from February and be able to commit to a schedule of work for the year. Some training may be held during Term 4 depending on your availability. We can tailor our roles to match your talent, however priority is given to those who can conduct and tutor or support multiple instruments. Casual and permanent Part Time opportunities are available for the right candidates.

Our Bands rehearse before school, and Music Tuition in Brass, Woodwind, and Percussion is run onsite at each school in small group lessons before and after school hours, with some limited tuition work available within school hours.





Our Conductors and Tutors collaborate on student progress to ensure that our bands sound great, and there is support and training if you need it, or want to expand your current skill set. Most importantly, we think being part of the School Band is a pretty awesome introduction to music, and our Music Educators live and breathe our motto of ‘Making Band Fun’.

About You

- You're passionate about Music and have a genuine interest in passing that on to primary school-age students
- You have proficiency to teach primary school students in at least 1 instrument, however you'll been given priority if you've got the skills to teach multiple instruments OR you are a Conductor looking for your next band to lead
- You have excellent communication skills - you can build rapport with kids and work collaboratively with our team
- You can tailor your approach to suit the musical commitment of our students - some are interested in exams and advancement, lots just want to have a fun band experience
- You are known for your punctuality and reliability, and you get that young kids (and their parents) are depending on you
- You must have a paid Working With Children Check (WWCC) or be willing to get one
- As some of our schools are hard to get to, having your driver's license and access to a car OR living in close proximity to our locations is helpful
