Our client operates within the Northern Territory’s power generation industry, supporting the delivery of reliable electricity across the region. An opportunity is available for a qualified mechanical tradesperson to join the team at Channel Island Power Station.

Your new role

As a Mechanical Operator/Maintainer, you will support the safe, reliable and efficient operation of power generation assets. Working within a multidisciplinary team, your responsibilities will include:

- Conducting routine plant inspections and operational testing
- Completing equipment lubrication and minor isolations
- Identifying, investigating and rectifying plant defects
- Preparing accurate defect reports
- Undertaking routine and shutdown maintenance
- Supporting operational and technical commissioning activities
- Working within site Permit to Work systems
- Liaising with contractors and ensuring permit requirements are followed
- Assisting with the training and mentoring of apprentices
- Participating in a seven-day work roster and on-call requirements

What you'll need to succeed

- Relevant AQF Certificate III mechanical trade qualification
- Experience identifying and rectifying mechanical plant defects




- Strong commitment to workplace health and safety
- Experience working within a Permit to Work system
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Solid communication and interpersonal skills
- Well-developed computer literacy
- Current NT driver’s licence, or the ability to obtain one
- Availability to participate in a seven-day roster and on-call arrangements

Previous experience in power generation, large-scale plant or another heavy industrial environment will be highly regarded.
