A major bank is seeking an OpenShift Engineer for an initial 12 month contract likely to extend.

Role can be based in Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide or Brisbane. 2 days a week in the office The team is supporting a major containerised deployment project, with a significant workload being onboarded onto the OpenShift platform.

Key Responsibilities

- Work across OpenShift environments currently running on bare metal and VMware, with future direction moving further toward bare metal
- Support customer/application teams through deployment, platform readiness, and troubleshooting activities.
- Manage and maintain the OpenShift container platform, including cluster installation, configuration, upgrades, and ongoing administration.
- Support a major containerised deployment project, including the onboarding and migration of a large workload into OpenShift.
- Automate platform and operational tasks using Ansible, GitOps, scripting, and other automation technologies.
- Work closely with project and application teams to facilitate the deployment and onboarding of containerised workloads onto the OpenShift platform.
- Implement and maintain logging, monitoring, alerting, and operational tooling.
- Contribute to the stability, scalability, security,



and performance of the OpenShift environment as workloads increase.

Key Skills & Experience
- Strong hands-on OpenShift infrastructure experience, ideally including deployment, administration, troubleshooting, and operational support.
- Practical experience resolving infrastructure issues across storage, networking, compute, and platform stability.
- Core engineering mindset with the ability to investigate, diagnose, and resolve complex technical issues.
- Exposure to on-premise or hybrid infrastructure environments, including bare-metal and VMware-based deployments.
- Ability to support internal application teams through onboarding onto the OpenShift platform.
- OpenShift AI or AI infrastructure exposure would be a major differentiator.
- Experience with GPU-based or bare-metal infrastructure would be valuable, particularly in support of LLM or AI workloads.
- Cloud background is acceptable if the candidate has robust engineering fundamentals and can adapt quickly to on-premise infrastructure.
- Experience with IBM Cloud Pak or complex enterprise application deployments would be useful.
