About the role

We are looking for an experienced and energetic Operations Manager to lead our Midland Depot.

This is a hands-on leadership role where you will take ownership of the day-to-day operation, lead your team and ensure our services are delivered safely, reliably and to the standard our customers expect.

You will be responsible for building a solid operational culture where safety, accountability, communication and service delivery come first.

Key responsibilities will include

- Lead, coach and develop drivers and operational staff

- Manage the day-to-day delivery of school, charter and contracted services

- Plan and coordinate driver, vehicle and resource requirements

- Manage recruitment, performance and staff engagement

- Build strong relationships with schools, clients, stakeholders and the wider ATG team

- Ensure HSEQ standards, policies and procedures are consistently followed

- Monitor operational performance, identify issues and implement solutions

- Complete audits, inspections and risk assessments

- Maintain accurate operational records, reporting and systems

- Respond effectively to operational issues and ensure timely resolution

- Drive a culture of “do it right the first time”

About you

We are looking for a leader, not just an administrator.





You will be someone who is comfortable being visible in the depot, talking to drivers, solving problems and making decisions.

You will ideally have

- Experience managing people and operations in transport, logistics, passenger transport or a similar environment

- Strong leadership and communication skills
- A practical, solutions-focused approach

- Excellent organisational and time-management skills
- The ability to remain calm and make decisions in a fast-paced environment
- A strong understanding of safety, compliance and risk management
- The confidence to hold people accountable while building a positive team culture

- Strong computer and administrative skills
- A current MR licence or higher is advantageous

We are looking for someone who lives in, or is genuinely based around, the Midland area and wants to take ownership of a local operation.

Being locally based means you can be part of the depot, the team and the community — and be available to properly lead the operation rather than simply manage it from a distance.
