Job Title: Partnerships Manager
Location: Mahboba’s Promise, 74 Agincourt Marsfield
Time Commitment: Full time
Salary Range: $100,000 - $120,000
Organisational Overview:
Mahboba's Promise is an Australian non-profit organisation committed to providing a sustainable future for orphans and widows in Afghanistan, and refugee communities in Australia. Mahboba’s Promise has been committed to providing hope, and building a prosperous future for marginalised women, children, widows and orphans for over 29 years. In Afghanistan, we have delivered critical humanitarian aid during crises and driven long-term sustainable change through a range of programs including four orphanages across rural provinces in Afghanistan, outreach programs, schools and education programs, healthcare clinics, micro-businesses, agricultural skills building projects and women empowerment initiatives. Our organisation is built within and serves alongside communities.
In Australia, the organisation provides settlement support and community development to the growing cohort of refugees and asylum seekers from Afghanistan and surrounding regions in Sydney. The role of Partnerships Manager will play a pivotal role in amplifying our work and engaging stakeholders to secure financial support and drive fundraising success.
Role Overview
This is a pivotal role for a strategic networker and compassionate relationship builder who wants to turn philanthropic, high value donors, government and business interest into lasting support to impact thousands more individuals in need.
As Partnerships Manager, you will lead the diversification strategy of our high-value funding streams. Working outside and at times alongside day-to-day digital marketing and individual donor appeals, your focus will be on cultivating authentic, multi-year alliances with corporate partners, philanthropic trusts, family foundations, High-Net-Worth Individuals, other NGO’s and government bodies.
You will combine strategic vision with genuine empathy, crafting proposals that connect our partners’ values with the human stories on the ground in Afghanistan and Australia. We are a team who is defined by the belief that change is possible and are looking forward to welcoming a leader who can amplify our ethos to create lasting change for the most vulnerable.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Partnership Development: Proactively identify, cultivate, and secure multi-year funding alliances across priority sectors,
including high-value business donations, philanthropic trusts, government grants, corporate CSR partnerships, and partnerships with other NGOs.
- Funding Proposals and Case Development: Lead the creation of tailored funding proposals, partnership pitches, and strategic investment presentations, working in close alignment with the Projects and Grants team to ensure program data and project goals are clearly represented.
- Acquittals and Partnership Compliance: Ensure all major grants and corporate funding agreements are tracked, acquitted, and reported back to the funder on time to secure renewed investment.
- Leadership Collaboration: Work to support Management Committee Members and the founder in community outreach and relationship building, establishing structured follow-up processes that convert networks into sustainable partnerships.
- Major Donor Stewardship: Design and deliver warm, personalised cultivation journeys for high-net-worth supporters and institutions, building deep, trust-based relationships that inspire long-term support.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Coordinate with the Marketing Manager to ensure B2B pitch assets match our brand narrative, and partner with the Operations Manager to manage pipeline tracking in our CRM.
- Revenue Forecasting and Pipeline Management: Take full ownership of the high-value revenue pipeline. Set financial targets, track conversion rates, and provide accurate revenue forecasts to the Management Committee to inform operational planning.
- NGO Partnerships: Identify opportunities for collaboration with other organizations doing similar work in Afghanistan and Australia to facilitate joint projects or secure funding as an implementation partner from larger NGOS.
Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum 5 years of experience in partnership management, major donor cultivation, business development, or high-level relationship building in the non-profit sector.
If you are a candidate without non-profit experience but believe you have the background skills and feel aligned with the organisation’s values, necessary, applications are welcome.
- Proven track record of securing and nurturing high-value relationships, major gifts, or institutional funding partners, with direct accountability for revenue targets.
- Exceptional interpersonal, negotiation, and storytelling skills, with the ability to speak with equal warmth and authority to corporate boards, foundation trustees, government representatives, and community leaders.
- Strong financial acumen, including experience managing grant acquittals, reviewing funding agreements, and reporting on project budgets to institutional donors.
- Deep understanding of the Australian philanthropic landscape, including Private Ancillary Funds, corporate ESG frameworks, and settlement grant structures.
- Demonstrated success in crafting compelling funding proposals, corporate pitches, or partnership presentations.
- Working knowledge of CRM systems like Salesforce to manage relationship pipelines, forecasting, and stewardship journeys.
- Crucial: A profound personal passion for humanitarian causes, social justice, and empowering vulnerable women, children, and refugees.
What You Will Gain
- Direct Impact and Autonomy: The platform to build high-level partnerships that directly transform the lives of the most vulnerable orphans and widows in Afghanistan and refugee communities in Australia.
- Vibrant Culture: Work alongside a passionate, culturally diverse team of staff and dedicated volunteers on a shared mission towards change.
- Benefit from a 30-year legacy and leadership in the NFP sector.
- Salary Packaging Benefits: Access generous NFP salary packaging options including up to $15,900 tax-free base allocation plus meal and entertainment benefits to maximize your take-home pay.
If you feel like you can thrive in this role or that our cause deeply inspires you, even if you don't check every single technical skill box, please still apply! We value creativity, drive, and alignment with our mission.
