Our client is a growing and established organisation within the logistics and resources sector, we are currently seeking an experienced Payroll Officer to join their CBD based corporate team.
Reporting to the Payroll Manager, you will play a key role in ensuring employees are paid accurately and on time, while maintaining compliance with relevant legislation, awards and company policies.
This temporary assignment has the possibility of extension or permanency for the right candidate and therefore we can only consider candidate with full working rights (Permanent Residency or Australian Citizenship)
- Location: Perth CBD
- Start date: ASAP
- Duration: initially temporary with possible permanency for the right candidate
- Pay rate: Negotiable
This is a hands-on payroll position suited to someone who enjoys working with detail, solving problems and providing a high level of service to employees.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Processing accurate and timely payroll based on approved timesheets, rosters and leave
- Managing employee leave entitlements and complex leave calculations
- Preparing and distributing payslips
- Ensuring accurate PAYG and STP reporting
- Processing PAYG, payroll tax and superannuation obligations
- Maintaining accurate and confidential employee records
- Liaising with the ATO, Revenue WA and other relevant external bodies
- Responding to employee payroll enquiries and providing advice around awards and policies
- Interpreting and applying Modern Awards and relevant payroll legislation
- Identifying opportunities to improve payroll processes,
systems and procedures
- Working closely with HR and Finance to ensure a smooth payroll function
About You
- Previous experience in a payroll-focused role
- Strong knowledge of payroll processes, legislation and compliance
- A solid understanding of Modern Awards
- Experience with PAYG, STP, superannuation and payroll tax
- Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
- The ability to investigate and resolve payroll issues independently
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- The ability to maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive employee information
- A proactive approach and willingness to identify process improvements
- A genuine people-focused approach when assisting employees with payroll matters
