MARS Recruitment is partnering with a Perth-based business to recruit a Payroll Team Lead to join a small, collaborative payroll function.

This is a hands-on lead role suited to an experienced Senior Payroll Officer looking to take the next step, while remaining closely involved in the end-to-end payroll process.

The Opportunity

Working within a team of four, you'll take ownership of the day-to-day payroll process, provide guidance to the wider team and help ensure payroll is delivered accurately and on time.

This isn't a traditional people-management role. Instead, you'll be the go-to person within the team - getting involved in the detail, supporting Payroll Officers and helping improve processes and systems.

Key Responsibilities

- Run and coordinate end-to-end payroll processing
- Manage weekly and monthly payroll cycles
- Review payroll data, employee changes and payroll adjustments
- Support payroll reporting, reconciliations, superannuation, PAYG and leave
- Act as a point of escalation for payroll queries
- Support and upskill Payroll Officers
- Help manage workflow, priorities and payroll deadlines




- Maintain strong payroll processes and compliance
- Contribute to ongoing payroll process and system improvements
- Work closely with the Payroll Manager and wider business

About You

We're looking for someone with strong end-to-end payroll experience who enjoys being hands-on and supporting those around them.

You'll ideally have

- Robust end-to-end payroll processing experience
- Experience across weekly and/or monthly payroll cycles
- Strong understanding of payroll compliance and legislation
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- The ability to manage competing priorities and strict deadlines
- Confidence supporting and developing less experienced team members
- A respectful, approachable and collaborative communication style

What's on Offer?

- $110,000 - $130,000 + super, depending on experence
- Full-time, permanent position
- Perth-based
- Up to 2 days WFH per week
- Flexible start and finish times
