Are you an experienced plant operator who enjoys practical outdoor work, working as part of a team and making a visible difference in your community? Hepburn Shire Council is seeking a reliable and safety-focused Civil Maintenance / Plant Operator to join our Operations team. In this hands-on role, you'll operate trucks, plant, equipment and tools while supporting the maintenance and construction of roads, drainage, roadsides, footpaths and related infrastructure across Hepburn Shire.

Working as part of a skilled and supportive team, you'll contribute to projects that keep our communities connected, safe and well maintained while enjoying the variety that comes with local government operations.

Position Details

- Permanent Full Time with a 9-day fortnight (rostered day off every second week)
- Salary: Band 3, $63,372 - $66,366 plus superannuation
- Base location: Creswick depot, with work undertaken across Hepburn Shire
- Reports to the Team Leader Works

How You'll Make a Difference

You'll support our community by:
- Operating trucks, civil plant, machinery, equipment and tools safely and effectively.
- Undertaking road, drainage, roadside, footpath and related infrastructure maintenance and construction activities.
- Supporting planned maintenance, reactive works and Road Management Plan activities.
- Assisting with signage, traffic management set-up and safe worksite operations.




- Completing daily plant inspections and maintaining accurate operational records.
- Working collaboratively with team members, contractors and other Council staff, including during emergency response activities.

About You

You'll bring experience in civil maintenance, construction, plant operation or a similar outdoor operations environment.

You'll also have

- Experience operating plant, machinery and equipment safely.
- A strong commitment to workplace health and safety.
- The ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Good communication and record-keeping skills.
- A willingness to contribute across a variety of maintenance and construction activities.

Essential Requirements

- Current Medium Rigid (MR) Truck Licence
- Construction Induction Card (White Card), or willing to obtain before commencing the role
- Experience operating plant and equipment in a civil works environment
- National Criminal History Check

Desirable

- Heavy Rigid (HR) or Multi Combination (MC) Licence
- Certificate III in Civil Construction or a related field
- Traffic management, chainsaw, first aid or other relevant industry tickets
