Join our Risk Technology team, supporting Macquarie Asset Management as we establish a new engineering capability and develop an AI-first platform for investment and operational risk. You will work alongside internal stakeholders and external delivery partners to help build the platform, establish strong engineering practices and develop the internal capability that will support its ongoing evolution.

What role will you play? As a hands-on Senior Engineer, you will help establish a recent risk technology capability within Macquarie Asset Management. Working with risk stakeholders, engineers and external delivery partners, you will contribute to the design and development of an AI-first platform that modernises risk oversight, controls assurance and advisory activities.

You will provide technical leadership while remaining deeply involved in coding, testing and implementation. You will help establish engineering standards, build knowledge within the Sydney-based team and support the platform’s ongoing evolution, using tools such as Claude Code and contributing to capabilities incorporating automation, AI agents and human-in-the-loop controls.

What You Offer

- Significant software engineering experience, with deep expertise in Python and related technologies including FastAPI, SQL and pytest.
- A strong record of remaining hands-on while providing technical leadership across architecture, system design and software delivery.
- Experience designing APIs,



modelling complex domains and applying practical software design patterns to create scalable and maintainable systems.
- Demonstrated experience contributing to the design and delivery of complex platforms, working effectively across internal teams, business stakeholders and external delivery partners.
- Working knowledge of cloud platforms, preferably AWS, together with continuous integration, continuous delivery and security-focused engineering practices.
- Experience establishing engineering standards and supporting other engineers through technical guidance, design reviews and collaborative problem-solving.
- Experience with AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code, GitHub Copilot or Cursor, with an interest in using AI to improve how software is designed, built, tested and maintained.
- The ability to communicate complex technical decisions clearly and pragmatically to senior business and technology stakeholders.
- Experience within asset management, investments, risk technology, portfolio analytics or quantitative platforms would be beneficial.
