Our client, Goldfields Community Legal Centre Inc. (GCLC), is seeking a Principal Solicitor to lead its legal practice in Kalgoorlie.

This role combines senior legal practice, people leadership and strategic contribution, with a clear purpose: improving access to justice for vulnerable people across the Goldfields Region.

What You'll Be Doing Reporting to the Centre Manager, you will take responsibility for the strategic and operational leadership of GCLC’s legal practice.

You will guide and develop the legal team, oversee service quality and professional standards, and manage legal risk, while providing advice, casework and representation in complex or high-risk matters.

Key responsibilities include:

- Leading the legal practice, ensuring compliance with professional, funding and sector requirements.
- Supervising, mentoring and developing the legal team.
- Providing advice,



casework and court representation in complex and sensitive matters.
- Overseeing client eligibility, triage, service priorities, outreach and duty lawyer programs.
- Strengthening practice policies, quality assurance and risk management.
- Contributing to strategy, service planning, funding submissions and program evaluation.
- Building relationships with courts, government, community organisations and referral partners.
- Supporting community legal education, systemic advocacy and law reform.

What You'll Have You are an experienced legal practitioner with sound professional judgement, demonstrated leadership capability and a commitment to improving access to justice in your community.

You will have

- At least two years as a Principal Solicitor or in a similar senior legal leadership role, or five years as a Senior Solicitor.
- Extensive family law experience, including advice, casework and court representation.
- Demonstrated experience supervising and mentoring legal teams.
- Experience supporting vulnerable clients with complex legal issues in community legal, not-for-profit or publicly funded non-billing services.
- Strong professional judgement, ethical decision-making and legal risk management.
- Excellent communication,



stakeholder engagement and organisational skills.
- Commitment to trauma-informed, client-centred practice and respectful engagement with First Nations people and culturally and linguistically diverse communities.
- Willingness to travel across the Goldfields region.

You must hold a current WA practising certificate, a current driver's licence, National Police Clearance and Working with Children Check. Why make the move?
