SCS Newcastle supplies shipping containers, modular buildings, site offices, portable amenities and specialised container solutions across the Hunter and beyond. We've recently moved into a new depot in Carrington and we're looking for a capable, hands-on supervisor to lead the yard and production team and help set the standard for how the site runs.

About the role

Reporting to the General Manager, you'll run day-to-day yard and production activity, making sure containers and modular units are prepared safely, built to spec and ready to go out the gate on time. This isn't a desk job. You'll be out on the floor organising staff, trades and contractors, jumping on the forklift when needed and keeping the whole operation moving.

Key responsibilities

- Planning daily yard and production work and allocating jobs across staff, trades and contractors to meet delivery dates
- Overseeing container modifications, repairs, preparation and fit-outs, and solving practical problems as they come up
- Inspecting finished units before dispatch and arranging rectification of any defects
- Coordinating container movements, truck loading and unloading with Operations and Logistics, and operating forklifts as required
- Keeping the yard safe, organised and presentable, with clear identification of stock and customer units
- Managing materials and consumables, and keeping accurate job, stock and inspection records




- Coordinating contractor inductions and checking their work against scope
- Driving WHS standards through routine checks, hazard reporting and equipment maintenance
- Working with Sales, Operations and Logistics, and recommending ways to improve depot workflow

About you

- Experience as a production, yard or workshop supervisor, leading hand or similar in manufacturing, fabrication, construction, transport or an industrial setting
- A proven ability to coordinate people, trades or contractors and deliver to deadlines
- A current forklift licence and practical experience operating around trucks and heavy equipment
- Robust planning and problem-solving skills, and the ability to juggle shifting priorities
- A solid understanding of WHS and the confidence to enforce safe work practices
- High standards for quality and presentation, and the ability to hold people accountable respectfully
- Clear communication and basic computer skills for record-keeping and job management systems
- A willingness to get stuck in on the floor
- Experience with shipping containers, modular buildings, container modifications, fabrication, welding or construction
- Experience coordinating electrical fit-outs is also a plus

Benefits

- $85,000 – $100,000 + super, depending on experience
- Permanent full-time role, Monday to Friday
