Constructability Recruitment

North Sydney

About the company

Our client is a well-established, privately owned commercial builder with an office in North Sydney and a long track record across Greater Sydney. They're known for careful, high-quality delivery on heritage and government projects, where attention to detail and good relationships with stakeholders matter as much as the program.

The business runs a lean, close-knit structure. You won't be one of fifty Project Managers. Your work will be visible, the decision-makers are one conversation away, and you'll have real influence over how your projects are run.

The opportunity

As Project Manager, you'll take full ownership of one or more projects across the government and heritage sectors, typically involving:

- Refurbishments, upgrades and adaptive reuse of heritage-listed buildings
- Projects for state and local government clients, often in live or occupied environments
- Working closely with heritage architects, conservation specialists and authorities
- Remediation works, including façade, structural and building defect rectification on existing and heritage structures

Key responsibilities

- Run projects from pre-construction through to handover and the defects period
- Manage the program, budget, cost reporting and forecasting
- Run procurement, subcontractor negotiations and contract administration
- Manage variations, EOTs, progress claims and client reporting

- Lead and mentor site teams, including Site Managers and Contracts Administrators
- Keep the relationship with clients, consultants and government stakeholders strong
- Make sure work meets heritage conservation requirements and WHS and quality standards

About you

- Proven experience as a Project Manager with a commercial main contractor
- A background in heritage, government and/or remediation projects (highly regarded)
- Strong commercial skills and a good working knowledge of AS 4000 / AS 2124 contracts
- Confident with stakeholders and a clear communicator who builds lasting relationships
- A degree in Construction Management, Engineering or similar (preferred)
- White Card and a current NSW driver's licence

What's on offer

- Salary range $170,000 – $200,000 + super (up to $200K for the right candidate)
- Build specialist remediation and heritage expertise, a niche, in-demand skill set across Sydney
- A stable, well-regarded builder with a secure forward pipeline
- Engaging, rewarding projects that leave a lasting mark on Sydney
- Direct access to leadership, without the layers of a large builder
- Genuine long-term career progression
