About Yummy Karma
Yummy Karma is a fast-growing Australian manufacturer of premium chilled and frozen ready meals, hot snacks and airline food solutions. We operate from a modern SQF, Halal and export-certified facility in Riverstone, Western Sydney, and supply major retailers, airlines, healthcare and foodservice operators across Australia and internationally. Our mission is simple: to make our customers' lives easier with high-quality, convenient meal solutions at an affordable price.
The Opportunity
We're looking for an experienced QA Compliance Officer to join our QA team, reporting to the QA Manager. You'll work across our morning and afternoon shifts on a rotating roster, taking ownership of GMP, hygiene, CCP and product standards across production and packing.
The role combines hands-on floor compliance with real QA system work. You'll spend most of your time on the production floor. Each shift also includes a set block of office time, typically the first few hours of an afternoon shift. You'll use that time for SQF system work and NPD documentation, then move onto the floor for the rest of the shift.
You'll also take responsibility for specific elements of our SQF system. When the QA Manager is away, you'll be the person they rely on to keep things running.
Key Responsibilities
Floor compliance
- Take ownership of GMP, hygiene, CCPs, product quality, receival and dispatch compliance across production and packing on your shift.
- Conduct GMP inspections and drive corrective action through to resolution, rather than just reporting issues.
- Monitor and verify CCPs, temperature controls and cleaning validations, and keep records accurate and complete in SafetyCulture.
- Lead line start-up checks and end-of-shift hygiene inspections,
so the site is always spotless and audit-ready.
- Identify non-conformances early and own CAPA through to genuine closure.
- Deliver brief toolbox talks and on-the-job coaching to build a strong food safety culture with production and packing teams.
- Make sound, independent judgements on compliance matters, including product holds and escalation, particularly when you're the sole QA on shift.
SQF system and NPD documentation
- Take ownership of assigned elements of the SQF system, including maintaining records, conducting internal audits and verifying HACCP/CCPs.
- Prepare and maintain NPD documentation, including product specifications, shelf-life validations and QAS sheets.
- Write and update policies, procedures, SOPs and work instructions. These should be practical documents that reflect how the floor actually runs.
- Support customer and certification audits (SQF, Halal, airline and retail customers).
Supporting the QA Manager
- Act as the QA Manager's backup: cover day-to-day QA decisions and keep the system running in their absence.
- Work closely with the QA Manager on QA priorities, KPIs and continuous improvement.
About You
- 2–5 years' experience in a QA/QC role within food manufacturing, FMCG or a similarly regulated environment.
- A degree in food science, food technology or a related field (preferred).
- Strong working knowledge of HACCP, GMP and SQF. You're genuinely fluent in these systems, not just familiar with them.
- Experience preparing product specifications, shelf-life validations, QAS sheets, SOPs and procedures. Your writing is clear and concise, and floor teams can actually follow it.
- Exposure to NPD, labelling or retail and airline customer requirements is highly regarded.
- Confident operating with autonomy, including as the sole QA on shift.
- A stickler for detail, with zero tolerance for cutting corners on hygiene or compliance.
- A proven track record of driving outcomes, not just flagging them. You take ownership and follow through.
- Comfortable coaching and correcting people on the floor, in the moment.
- Flexible to work across both morning and afternoon shifts on a rotating roster, Monday to Friday.
- Equally comfortable leading on the floor and producing high-quality documentation. The majority of your time will be floor-based, so this role won't suit candidates looking for a primarily desk-based position.
Why Join Us
- Genuine ownership on the floor and within the QA system, with real, hands-on impact.
- Broader exposure than a typical QA role, across compliance, SQF and NPD.
- A contemporary facility producing for leading retail, airline, healthcare and export customers.
- A clear QA career pathway, with six-monthly performance reviews and real progression in a fast-growing business.
If you're a QA professional who takes pride in spotless standards, thrives on the floor and enjoys building a strong QA system, we'd love to hear from you. Please attach a cover letter and CV to your application.
