About the position

We are looking for a Recruitment Consultant – GP Recruitment (Tasmania) to join our central Support Office team on a part-time basis however open to flexiblity for the right candidate.

This is a Tasmania-based position and we are seeking someone who can meet candidates and practice teams face-to-face, attend local networking events, and represent Better Medical across the state when required. Some travel across Tasmania will be required. A hybrid working model is supported, with an expectation of strong on-ground presence in Tasmania.

In this role, you will lead GP attraction, recruitment, and onboarding for our Tasmanian practices. You will ensure a positive candidate experience from first contact through to start date, and work closely with clinic teams to support GP retention. You will also ensure all communication and compliance is accurately recorded in our CRM.

An ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience recruiting GPs in Tasmania, with strong knowledge of the local GP workforce, registration pathways, and community needs. A passion for driving positive candidate experiences and building long-term relationships with Tasmanian GPs and practice teams will be highly regarded. You will work with a team that is passionate about supporting our clinical and operations teams, allowing them to focus on what they do best.

You will build strong relationships with Practice Managers, Operations, and Business Support Teams nationally, with a particular focus on our Tasmanian clinics.





Key responsibilities will include

- Source, screen, and engage GP candidates with a focus on the Tasmanian market
- Manage end-to-end GP recruitment for Tasmanian practices, including coordination of site visits and clinical discussions.
- Assist both domestic and international GPs in onboarding, including working with external organisations (AHPRA, Ethos Immigration, Medicare/PRODA, RACGP, etc.) to ensure GPs are supported through their registration and onboarding process.
- Maintain and optimise GP recruitment databases and our CRM, ensuring accurate tracking of all Tasmanian recruitment activity.
- Proactively identify new attraction and retention opportunities specific to Tasmania and report accordingly.
- Ensure all candidates are properly supported throughout the recruitment process, with ongoing engagement with Tasmanian clinics where appropriate.
- Craft effective and engaging job adverts and searches tailored to the Tasmanian GP market, posting on appropriate advertising platforms including social media.
- Act as a Better Medical brand ambassador for all GP recruitment and retention initiatives in Tasmania, including attending local events, university connections, and professional networks.
- Provide administration and coordination support for the GP Recruitment Team, with a particular focus on Tasmanian workforce planning and pipeline development.

About you
- Demonstrated experience in GP recruitment, with a clear focus on Tasmania and understanding of the state’s GP workforce dynamics.
- Knowledge of medical registration and workforce eligibility processes (AHPRA, Medicare, DPA/MM, supervision pathways).
- Tasmania-based with the ability to travel locally to meet candidates and visit clinics.
- Solid stakeholder skills: confident engaging GPs, practice managers, and senior clinicians.
