About the chance

As our Retail Customer Service Officer, you’ll play an important part in helping Australians service their own businesses, keeping millions of people connected and building community resilience. Every year around one million customers walk into one of our Australia Post Offices. It’s our retail teams who make sure that every experience they have is a great one.

And while they do, they’re supported by a welcoming team, take part in ongoing training, and are guided on career development opportunities.

You’ll be

- Performing customer sales and service transactions with customers.
- Managing high value transactions accurately (handling and processing cash, cheques, credit cards and EFTPOS).
- Conducting and processing a number of identity services transactions, including Australian Passport Interviews.
- Promoting our products and services through up-selling and cross-selling,



merchandising and other promotional activities.
- Assisting customers with mail and parcels lodgements and associate costs.
- Building rewarding relationships with customers by understanding their needs.
- Assisting with administrative duties such as stocktaking and record maintenance.

Role Details

- Career Growth This casual relief role is ideal for someone who is looking for a career with us, development opportunities and visibility to all permanent positions will be available
- Pay Rate role commences on $36.41/ hour for approx. 3 months, increasing to $38.92 hour + 12% Superannuation. (Junior rates apply to those under 21 during training).
- Additional Benefits Annual District Allowance, from $1,210 pa
- Training Extensive, supportive (paid) training on commencement, 12 weeks, working 4 hours each day on a rotating roster, Monday - Friday, between 8.45 AM – 5.06 PM
- Hours After training, shifts may be scheduled in advanced, or you may be called in at short notice. You will need to be fully available, Monday - Friday, between 8.45 AM – 5.06 PM
- Locations As this is a relief position, you will need to be happy, willing and able to work at the Cairns Post Office, Cairns Business Hub, Earlville & Manunda, please consider travel before applying

You’ll also need to

- Have experience in customer service and/or cash handling.
- Be fit to lift up to 16kgs of mail and parcels regularly and stand for your shift.
