About Our Café

Summer Centre Bakery is a premium artisan bakery in Orange NSW, specialising in handcrafted French pastries, specialty coffee and fresh grab-and-go food.

As a new and growing business, we are seeking an experienced and motivated Retail Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of our bakery and café retail establishment.

The successful applicant will be responsible for managing retail operations, stock and purchasing, sales and customer service, staff coordination, financial and inventory records, promotional activities, and workplace compliance.

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for an experienced retail professional with strong leadership, organisational and customer service skills.

You will be confident managing day-to-day retail operations, supervising a team, monitoring sales and stock, coordinating purchasing, and maintaining high standards of customer service.

You will be highly organised, hands-on and motivated to contribute to the development and growth of our bakery and café business.

Key duties

- Determine the appropriate product mix of croissants, pastries, breads, cakes and café offerings, maintain appropriate stock levels and ensure high customer service standards.
- Formulate and implement purchasing, merchandising and marketing strategies for bakery and café products.
- Monitor product pricing and make recommendations regarding pricing based on purchasing costs, customer demand and business requirements.
- Promote and advertise the café's baked goods, specialty pastries,



seasonal products and food and beverage offerings through appropriate in-store and digital channels.
- Oversee the sale of bakery products and café items, assist customers with product selection and provide information about ingredients, flavours and specialty offerings.
- Monitor customer demand and make recommendations regarding products, services and stock requirements.
- Maintain accurate records of inventory levels, ingredient usage, purchases, sales performance and financial transactions.
- Prepare and monitor budgets, control operating costs and analyse sales information to support profitability and minimise waste.
- Coordinate purchasing and liaise with suppliers to ensure adequate stock and supplies are available for daily operations.
- Recruit, train, schedule, supervise and support bakery, café and customer service staff.
- Prepare staff rosters and allocate duties to ensure appropriate staffing levels and efficient daily operations.
- Monitor staff performance and provide training and guidance where required.
- Manage customer enquiries and complaints and maintain high standards of customer service.
- Organise and control the day-to-day operations of the retail establishment.
- Ensure compliance with applicable food safety, workplace health and safety and hygiene requirements.
- Maintain a clean,



protected and professional retail setting.
- Implement and maintain company policies and procedures.
- Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency, sales, customer service and stock management.

Qualifications and experience The successful applicant will ideally have:
- Demonstrated experience in retail management or a closely related retail management role.
- Experience supervising, training and coordinating staff.
- Experience with stock control, purchasing and inventory management.
- Understanding of retail sales, customer service and daily store operations.
- Robust communication and organisational skills.
- Good time management and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and make operational decisions.
- Business management qualifications will be highly regarded.

Previous experience in a bakery, café, food retail or similar retail environment will be highly regarded.
