About the role

Baked in Portsea is looking for an experienced, hands-on Store Manager to lead our retail bakery and café. As we grow our wholesale business, you'll take responsibility for the store's daily operation, lead our front-of-house team and keep customers coming back for great food and friendly service. You'll work closely with the owners and Kitchen Manager, with responsibility for staffing, rosters, stock ordering and service standards.

Key responsibilities

- Running daily store operations, including opening, closing, counter service and product presentation

- Recruiting, onboarding and training front-of-house staff

- Leading the team, providing feedback and managing performance

- Preparing rosters within approved labour budget

- Ordering retail stock, café supplies, packaging and consumables

- Monitoring stock rotation, availability and waste

- Overseeing cash handling and till reconciliation





- Maintaining food safety, cleaning and workplace safety standards

- Coordinating with the Kitchen Manager to keep the store stocked

- Updating the owners on sales, staffing and operational priorities

About you

- Experience managing or supervising a café, retail bakery or similar busy food business

- Comfortable leading a team and stepping onto the counter when service gets busy

- Practical experience with recruitment, staff training and performance management

- Strong rostering, stock control and organisational skills

- Clear understanding of food safety and customer service

- Positive communication and sound judgement

- Availability for a rotating roster, including weekends
