About The Role The Program Manager, Civics and Citizenship leads the department’s Safeguarding Democracy reforms, a nation-leading South Australian Government initiative to strengthen democracy through enhanced civics and citizenship education.

The Program Manager contributes to empowering children and young people to be active, informed and compassionate citizens.

The Program

Manager provides strategic leadership for a complex statewide reform agenda across professional learning, curriculum development and student engagement, including the Active Citizenship Convention and the development and implementation of a new cross-curriculum priority.

The Program Manager operates in a high-profile and politically sensitive setting, providing high-level advice on curriculum, reform delivery and democratic engagement and translating government, departmental and curriculum directions into practical system-wide outcomes.

The role leads a small specialist team with broader cross-directorate coordination responsibilities, works through multiple governance and decision-making layers and builds strong relationships with senior leaders, state and national bodies, civic institutions and community stakeholders to support the successful delivery of the reform initiative.





Qualifications

Essential: An appropriate tertiary qualification including post-graduate qualification in an education related field.

Desirable: Nil

Special conditions The successful applicant is required to gain a Department for Human Services (DHS) working with children check (WWCC) prior to being employed which is required to be renewed every five years before expiry.

The incumbent will be required to undertake RRHAN –EC (Responding to Risks of Harm, Abuse and Neglect - Education Care) Facilitator Lead (Masterclass) extended course or the online (Fundamentals) course which will be required to be updated every three years.

Remuneration

S121-5 $165,103 per annum (1.0 FTE) + superannuation (12%)
