About the role

We are seeking a reliable, practical and motivated Yard Assistant / Driver to join our team at our Colac depot. This is a varied, hands-on role combining school bus driving with yard maintenance, vehicle cleaning and general depot support. You will play an important part in ensuring our buses, vehicles and depot facilities are clean, safe, well-maintained and ready for daily operations.

Key responsibilities

- Conduct scheduled morning and afternoon school bus runs
- Occasional Charter trips
- Maintain a clean, tidy and organised depot yard and facilities
- Wash, clean and detail buses and company vehicles
- Inspect vehicles for damage, defects or other issues and report concerns promptly
- Refuel company vehicles as required
- Maintain adequate stocks of cleaning and maintenance supplies

About you

- A current and valid heavy vehicle licence, along with the required DC and Working with Children (WWC) credentials
- A strong commitment to safety and responsible driving
- Excellent attention to detail and the ability to identify and report vehicle damage or defects
- The ability to work independently, manage time effectively and follow instructions
- A reliable, punctual and proactive approach to work




- The physical capability to undertake yard duties, vehicle and facilities cleaning
- A versatile, team-oriented attitude and willingness to assist across a range of depot operations

What We’re Looking For We are looking for someone who is dependable, takes pride in maintaining high standards and understands the importance of keeping vehicles and facilities safe, clean and operational.

You will be comfortable balancing scheduled driving responsibilities with practical yard duties and be willing to contribute to the smooth day-to-day running of the depot.

Important Employment Conditions

- Standard working hours are 7:30 am to 4:30 pm, including a 1-hour unpaid lunch break.
- Due to the nature of school bus operations, all planned leave must be taken during school holiday periods.
