About the role

We are seeking an experienced Section Waiter to join our team at Meat Flour Wine, a premier steak restaurant located in Braeside, VIC. This is a part-time position that plays a crucial role in delivering exceptional dining experiences to our guests. As a Section Waiter, you will be responsible for providing outstanding service to your assigned section, ensuring every guest leaves with memorable experiences.

Your attention to detail, product knowledge, and genuine hospitality will be essential to maintaining our reputation for excellence.

Key responsibilities

- Greet and welcome guests to your section with warmth and professionalism, ensuring they feel valued from the moment they arrive

- Present menus and provide knowledgeable recommendations on our steak offerings, wine pairings, and seasonal specials

- Take accurate food and beverage orders whilst demonstrating exceptional listening skills and attention to guest preferences

- Serve food and beverages according to established service standards, ensuring correct presentation and timing

- Maintain comprehensive knowledge of menu items, ingredients, preparation methods, and wine selections to answer guest queries confidently

- Monitor guest satisfaction throughout their meal and respond promptly to any requests or concerns

- Clear tables efficiently and reset them to our high standards between seatings

- Collaborate with kitchen and bar staff to ensure seamless service delivery

- Process payments accurately and professionally, handling cash and card transactions with integrity

- Maintain impeccable personal hygiene and appearance, adhering to our dress code standards





- Contribute to a positive team environment and support colleagues during peak service periods

What we're looking for

- Proven experience as a waiter or in an upscale casual restaurant environment

- Comprehensive knowledge of dining etiquette, service protocols, and wine/beverage service standards

- Strong understanding of premium meat cuts, cooking methods, and food preparation to enable confident guest recommendations

- Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage guests in meaningful conversation and build rapport

- Outstanding attention to detail and ability to remember guest preferences and special requests

- Ability to work efficiently during high-pressure service periods whilst maintaining composure and professionalism

- Proficiency in restaurant management systems and point-of-sale technology

- Strong numeracy skills for accurate order taking and payment processing

- Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and carry items safely

- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and public holidays as required

- Current or willingness to obtain responsible service of alcohol certification (RSA)

- Genuine passion for hospitality and a commitment to exceeding guest expectations
