IBN serves as the Trustee for the Mining Area C (MAC) Agreement between BHP Billiton Pty Ltd and the IBN Claim Group, which includes the Yinhawangka, Banyjima and Nyiyaparli people of the Pilbara.
Established in 2001, IBN is a charitable business operated for the advancement and prosperity of these communities. We provide programs and services to raise the personal, social and economic wellbeing of our members and deliver support and programs in health, education, housing, culture, enterprise development and employment.

About the role
We are seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join IBN Corporation on a 12-month fixed term contract, based in East Perth WA. This role is responsible for the day-to-day oversight of IBN’s financial systems, processes and transactions. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), the role contributes to maintaining a high-performing Finance team and a positive team culture, delivering exceptional internal and external customer service, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives that enhance financial management and organisational outcomes.
The role plays a critical part in ensuring the integrity, accuracy and efficiency of IBN’s financial operations, while providing high-quality financial support across the organisation.
Key responsibilities
- Supervise and support Finance team members
- Supervise the recording of all transactions (in accordance with delegation of authorities) in the accounts of the Charitable Trust, ensuring that all such transactions are accurate and complete
- Maintain the IBN Fixed Asset Register and oversee the asset depreciation process
- Review and submission of the monthly Business Activity Statement and annual Fringe Benefit Tax return
- Coordinate and ensure the accuracy of month end process
- Assist the CFO with the preparation of the annual budget and statutory financial statements
- Assist the CFO with investigating and resolving audit findings, account discrepancies, and non-compliance
- Serve as the single point of contact for the external auditors
- Support with implementing and maintaining appropriate financial management policies, procedures and internal accounting controls
- Assist with the maintenance of the Chart of Accounts
- Preparation of IBN monthly and quarterly financial management reports
- Work closely with the Investment Principal to oversee investments of Trust Funds
- Provide financial and accounting information to the department managers, CFO and the CEO as required
- Oversight of subsidiary financial reporting and systems
- Assist with coordination and management IBN’s insurance program
- Ensure that financial records are properly maintained, stored and archived
What we're looking for
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in a similar role (would suit Group/Financial/Corporate Accountant)
- Hands on experience with NetSuite
- Ability to work autonomously and with flexibility
- Significant leadership acumen including coaching and empowering leaders and teams
- Excellent technical accounting skills with in-depth knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards and Australian Tax Legislation
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and relevant databases
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills and ability to interpret and apply legislation
- High level of competency in financial accounting, accounts reconciliation and internal auditing
- Proven supervisory or mentoring experience is highly desirable
- Experience working with Aboriginal people and understanding Aboriginal Australian culture is highly desirable
- Experience working for a Non-For-Profit/For Purpose organisation is highly desirable
