The Company

AKM Group is a well-established group of businesses in recycling and waste collection (RAW Skips) and precast concrete manufacturing. We work with major builders and commercial clients across South-East Queensland.

The Role

Reporting to the Group Finance Manager, you'll be a hands-on member of a small accounts team, focused on our main business, RAW Skips. You'll do much of the core processing yourself and own the weekly cycle from start to finish. You're the person who makes sure payroll, payments, reconciliations and compliance are complete, accurate and on time, every time.

Some of our processes are still manual, including payroll. We need someone who can run them accurately today and help us improve them tomorrow.

What You'll Be Doing

Payroll

- Processing weekly payroll end-to-end, from timesheets to MYOB
- Leave, superannuation, STP reporting and employee records
- Onboarding and offboarding administration

Accounts Payable

- Preparing weekly AP payment runs, including invoice processing, approvals and supplier enquiries
- Supplier and credit card reconciliations

Reconciliations and Month-End

- Bank and balance sheet reconciliations
- Supporting month-end and year-end close with accruals, payroll reports and reconciliations

Compliance

- Supporting payroll and ATO compliance: STP, super, PAYG withholding, payroll tax and BAS/IAS preparation




- Tracking key dates so every lodgement and payment is on time

Making Sure It's Done

- Planning the weekly cycle and following through until every task is complete
- Working closely with the team, sharing knowledge and checking work
- Spotting gaps early and closing them before they become problems

What We're Looking For

- At least 3 years in an accounts role in Australia, with strong payroll, AP and reconciliation experience.
- Strong hands-on MYOB experience, including payroll (essential)
- Solid working knowledge of STP, super, PAYG, payroll tax and BAS
- Experience supporting or mentoring others
- Robust Excel skills
- A relevant qualification (Cert IV, Diploma or degree) is valued, but proven experience matters more

Location Our office is in Pinkenba. There is no public transport, so please check the commute works for you before applying. This is a full-time, on-site role.
