Our client is a well-established boutique financial services firm based in Sydney. They're a small, high-performing team with a group structure that includes a licensed investment management entity. They're looking for a Financial Accountant to join the finance team and take on a genuinely broad role, ideally a qualified Accountant coming from a similar sized firm.
THE ROLE
Reporting to the CFO and working day to day with the Head of Finance, you'll contribute to upholding financial control across the group.
- You'll prepare monthly, quarterly and annual management reporting packs, including budget-to-actual analysis, cash flow reporting and commentary on key variances.
- You'll manage banking and payment runs, assist with accounts payable, and process journals and reconciliations.
- You'll complete month end, balance sheet reconciliations and group consolidation reporting.
- You'll partner with the investment team to track portfolio performance, budgets and cash flow forecasts, and maintain the investment accounting schedules.
- You'll prepare BAS, IAS, payroll tax, FBT and other statutory returns.
- You'll run monthly payroll end to end, including onboarding and offboarding.
- You'll support the annual statutory audit across group entities.
- You'll get involved in process improvement projects, including systems upgrades and AI-driven efficiencies.
ABOUT YOU
- You have 3+ years' experience in a Financial Accounting or Financial Control role.
- CA or CPA qualified (ideal), or close to completing.
- You've come from a smaller business, family office or business services firm, and you're comfortable being across the whole finance function rather than one piece of it.
- You have hands-on experience preparing payroll, BAS, IAS and FBT.
- You're confident with month end, balance sheet recs and management reporting.
- Strong Excel skills, and Xero experience is a bonus.
- Exposure to financial services or investments is helpful but not essential. If you've got the right generalist grounding, they'll teach you the industry side.
This is a genuine opportunity to step into a growing Financial Services firm and contribute across the whole Finance function. They offer flexible working with 4 days in the office at the current CBD office.
