Senior Electrical Designer – Major Iron Ore Project

Perth, WA | Major Mining Development | EPCM Project An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced Senior Electrical Designer to join my client and support the engineering and design delivery of a major iron ore development in Western Australia. Working within an established multidisciplinary EPCM team, you will be responsible for electrical design activities across HV and LV systems up to 33kV, supporting the development of safe, practical and technically compliant solutions for major mining infrastructure.

This position is ideally suited to an experienced electrical professional with a robust background in WA iron ore, mining, mineral processing or comparable heavy industrial projects.

Key Responsibilities

- Develop and support electrical design solutions across HV and LV systems up to 33kV.
- Review vendor technical documentation, drawings and electrical design information.
- Support power system studies, including load flow, short circuit and harmonic studies.
- Undertake cable sizing and develop/review cable schedules.
- Develop MTOs, equipment lists and associated electrical design documentation.
- Ensure designs comply with relevant Australian and international standards and project requirements.
- Utilise electrical engineering and design software to support project deliverables.
- Coordinate closely with engineering, design and other disciplines across the EPCM project team.
- Identify and resolve electrical design issues throughout project delivery.
- Work autonomously while communicating effectively with management, clients, vendors and project stakeholders.

About You

To be considered, you will ideally have:
- An Australian-accredited four-year engineering degree.




- Approximately 8–12 years' experience within WA iron ore, mining/resources or a similar heavy industrial environment.
- Strong experience with HV and LV electrical systems up to 33kV.
- Experience reviewing vendor technical documents and drawings.
- Knowledge of power system studies including load flow, short circuit and harmonics.
- Experience with electrical cable sizing and cable schedules.
- Familiarity with relevant Australian and international electrical standards and codes.
- Experience developing MTOs, equipment lists and supporting design documentation.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to work autonomously and effectively within multidisciplinary project teams.

Highly Desirable

Experience using electrical engineering and design tools such as SmartPlant, DIgSILENT PowerFactory, ETAP, SKM Power Tools and CDEGS will be highly regarded. Previous experience supporting major WA iron ore developments, mineral processing facilities, bulk materials handling infrastructure or other large-scale EPCM mining projects would also be advantageous.
