Beacon Legal have partnered with a leading Australian entertainment business in their search for a Senior Legal Counsel. They are looking to hire someone at the 10+ PQE level, ideally based in Sydney, with Melbourne also considered. It'll be an initial 6-month FTC, with potential to extend.

We’re seeking an experienced commercial lawyer to join a collaborative and established legal team on an initial six-month contract. This is a broad, hands-on role supporting a fast-moving business across live events, sponsorship, marketing, ticketing, IP, suppliers, procurement and general commercial matters.

The role will suit someone who enjoys being close to the business, managing a varied workload and taking ownership of commercial matters from start to finish. As one of the senior lawyers in the team, you will also have the opportunity to mentor and support more junior lawyers, acting as a senior point of contact across the group.

The team is experienced, collaborative and genuinely enjoys working together. With plenty happening across the wider business, this is an opportunity to step into an interesting sector and work across a breadth of highly visible commercial matters.

About the Role

- Draft, review and negotiate a broad range of commercial contracts across the business.




- Advise on matters spanning live events, sponsorship, marketing, ticketing, suppliers, procurement and IP.
- Mentor and support junior lawyers within the team, providing guidance across commercial matters.
- Partner directly with stakeholders across a fast-paced and diverse business.
- Manage competing priorities and take ownership of matters with a high degree of autonomy.
- Support the wider legal team across broader commercial and business-as-usual legal matters.

What type of person will be successful?
- Admitted as a lawyer in Australia.
- Approximately 10+ years PQE, with some flexibility for the right person.
- Strong commercial contracting experience, ideally gained within an in-house environment.
- Experience across commercial, IP, media, entertainment, technology, procurement, sponsorship, marketing or consumer law will be highly regarded.
- Comfortable mentoring junior lawyers while remaining hands-on with day-to-day legal work.
- Confident working autonomously while being a collaborative member of a close-knit team.
- Entertainment experience is advantageous but not essential.
