Senior Mechanical Designer – Major Iron Ore Project

Perth, WA | Major Greenfield Mining Development An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced Mechanical Designer to join my client and support the engineering and design delivery of a major iron ore development in Western Australia. This role is ideally suited to a highly experienced Mechanical Designer with a robust background in large-scale iron ore projects, bulk materials handling and fixed plant infrastructure. You will work within a multidisciplinary project team developing high-quality mechanical design solutions for complex mining and processing facilities.

Recent and substantial iron ore project experience is essential for this position.

Key Responsibilities

- Develop detailed mechanical designs for major iron ore processing and materials handling facilities.
- Produce and review mechanical design packages, layouts, drawings and associated project documentation.
- Support the design of crushing, screening, conveying, stockyard and fixed plant infrastructure.
- Develop practical design solutions that consider constructability, maintainability, safety and operational requirements.
- Coordinate closely with mechanical engineers and other engineering/design disciplines.
- Participate in multidisciplinary 3D model and design reviews.
- Ensure designs comply with project specifications, standards and client requirements.
- Resolve design interfaces and technical issues throughout project delivery.
- Liaise with engineering, project and construction teams to ensure designs meet schedule and execution requirements.
- Provide design support during project execution and construction activities where required.

About You

To be considered for this opportunity, you will require:
- Approximately 10–15 years of Mechanical Design experience within mining and resources.
- A minimum of 2 continuous years working on a major iron ore project within the last 5 years.
- Demonstrated experience across iron ore processing, bulk materials handling, crushing,



conveying, screening, stockyards and/or fixed plant infrastructure.
- Strong experience producing detailed mechanical design packages and associated documentation.
- Proficiency with relevant 3D modelling and mechanical design software.
- Strong understanding of project delivery within major mining environments.
- Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary engineering and design teams.
- Strong communication, coordination and stakeholder engagement skills.

Highly Desirable

Previous experience working on major Pilbara iron ore developments will be highly regarded, particularly candidates who have supported projects for leading Australian iron ore operators. Experience across greenfield developments, brownfield expansions, sustaining capital projects, bulk materials handling systems, fixed plant processing facilities and construction/site support would also be advantageous.
