About the Role
Reporting to the General Manager Risk & Compliance, the Senior Risk Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing business processes and procedures associated with Achmea Australia's Risk Management Framework (RMF). This role plays a critical part in driving risk management maturity, supporting governance and compliance outcomes, and fostering a proactive risk culture across the organisation.
You will partner closely with business leaders and stakeholders to provide practical risk advice, deliver meaningful insights, and ensure risk management practices remain aligned with regulatory obligations and business objectives.
Demonstrated ability to leverage technology effectively, including Microsoft 365 applications, Governance, Risk and Compliance (GRC) platforms, and AI tools to improve productivity, reporting quality, stakeholder engagement, and risk management outcomes is essential.
Key responsibilities include:
- Maintain and enhance the Risk Management Framework and GRC platform.
- Oversee risk, issue,
incident, and control management processes.
- Lead control assurance, testing, and remediation activities.
- Conduct risk assessments and provide practical risk advice to stakeholders.
- Identify emerging risks and deliver meaningful risk insights.
- Prepare risk reporting for management and governance committees.
- Build strong business partnerships and promote effective risk management practices.
- Support the ongoing development of a positive risk culture.
About You To be successful, you will have:
- 5 years' experience in Risk Management and/or Compliance within Financial Services.
- Insurance industry experience highly regarded.
- Robust knowledge of risk frameworks, controls testing, and assurance activities.
- Working knowledge of APRA Prudential Standards and ASIC Regulatory Guides.
- Experience managing risk, issues, incidents, and remediation activities.
- Strong analytical, reporting, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
- Relevant tertiary qualification in Business, Commerce, Economics, Law, or a related discipline.
- Professional risk or compliance qualifications are desirable.
