Senior Security Engineer

$950 per day + Super | 6 Month Contract | Sydney CBD | Hybrid Working (50% Office Attendance)

Working within a small, high-performing Security team, you'll help secure up-to-date cloud platforms and partner closely with engineering and product teams to embed security into technology delivery from day one.

Your new role

As a Senior Security Engineer, you'll play a key role across cloud security, security operations, identity security and DevSecOps practices, supporting multiple ventures with varying technologies and risk profiles.

This is a hands-on engineering role requiring strong technical capability and the ability to operate autonomously within a fast-paced environment.

Key responsibilities include

- Supporting and enhancing Microsoft security capabilities including Defender, Sentinel and Entra ID
- Designing and implementing security controls across AWS and Azure environments
- Improving threat detection, monitoring and security operations capabilities
- Supporting incident response, vulnerability management and remediation activities
- Building security automation using Python, PowerShell and cloud-native tooling
- Embedding security controls within CI/CD and DevSecOps pipelines
- Supporting identity and access management initiatives including Conditional Access and privileged access controls




- Working with Infrastructure as Code technologies including Terraform and CloudFormation
- Partnering with engineering teams to implement secure-by-design practices
- Contributing to cloud security initiatives and continuous improvement across multiple ventures

What you'll need to succeed

- Demonstrated experience as a Security Engineer, Cloud Security Engineer or similar
- Strong experience with the Microsoft Security Suite, including:
- Microsoft Defender
- Microsoft Sentinel
- Microsoft Entra ID
- Hands-on AWS security experience
- Background in Security Operations, SOC, Incident Response or Detection Engineering
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation or Bicep
- Strong scripting and automation skills using Python and/or PowerShell
- Experience working within DevSecOps environments
- Exposure to cloud security platforms such as Wiz will be highly regarded
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
