Our client is a growing structural engineering consultancy seeking an experienced Senior Structural Design Engineer to join their team in Sydney. This is an excellent opportunity for a technically strong engineer to take on a senior role across structural design, project delivery, technical leadership and client engagement.

The Senior Structural Design Engineer will be responsible for the design and delivery of industrial and commercial projects, with a strong focus on structural steel structures, reinforced concrete elements and precast concrete.

You will be involved across the full project lifecycle, from concept and tender design through to detailed design and construction support. The role will involve coordinating engineering activities with drafters and project teams, liaising with architects, builders, fabricators and consultants, and providing technical advice throughout project delivery.

The role will suit an experienced Structural Engineer with strong design capabilities, sound knowledge of Australian Standards and the NCC,



and the ability to manage multiple projects and stakeholders while providing technical leadership and maintaining strong client relationships.

The Senior Structural Design Engineer will be responsible for undertaking technical reviews, coordinating engineering and drafting resources, attending project and client meetings, providing technical advice, undertaking site inspections and assessments, responding to RFIs and contractor queries, and supporting the successful delivery of projects.

Responsibilities include but not limited to:

- Undertake concept, tender and detailed structural design
- Design structural steel, reinforced concrete and precast concrete elements
- Prepare design details and documentation for drafters
- Prepare engineering reports where required
- Develop practical, economical and buildable design solutions
- Review and check own designs prior to issue
- Check and verify engineering work completed by other engineers
- Undertake peer reviews and independent design reviews
- Ensure compliance with relevant Australian Standards, NCC requirements, project requirements and company QA procedures
- Deliver projects to agreed scope, programme and budget
- Coordinate engineering activities with drafters and project teams
- Liaise with architects, builders, fabricators, panel suppliers and other consultants
- Attend project meetings and facilitate technical coordination
- Develop and maintain strong client relationships




- Attend client meetings and present engineering solutions
- Provide timely technical advice throughout project delivery
- Undertake site inspections and structural assessments
- Carry out steelwork and bolt inspections
- Respond to RFIs and contractor queries
- Review shop drawings and construction submissions
- Assist with defect investigations and remedial design where required

Qualifications and Requirements:

- Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
- Minimum 5 years' experience in a similar structural engineering role
- Experience designing structural steel, reinforced concrete and precast structures
- Solid understanding of Australian Standards and the NCC
- Proficient in structural analysis and design software
- Strong technical design and engineering capabilities
- Experience coordinating multiple projects and stakeholders concurrently
- Strong communication, leadership and problem-solving skills
- Strong client and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to work both autonomously and as part of a team
- High level of attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Strong understanding of project delivery, budgets and programmes
