About Orchard-Rite Australia

Orchard-Rite Pty Ltd supplies and services frost fans and tree shakers - the equipment that helps growers protect their orchards and vineyards from frost and bring in the harvest. We support horticultural and viticultural growers across the Riverland area and beyond, keeping that equipment running when it matters most. As we continue to grow across Australia, we’re investing in our team and in the people who keep growers moving.

About the role

When frost rolls in overnight or the harvest window kicks off, Riverland growers depend on their frost fans and tree shakers running without fail - and keeping them running is your job. Based at our Loxton depot and reporting to the Service Manager, you’ll service, maintain and repair Orchard-Rite frost fans and tree shakers across the Riverland area and surrounding regions.

It’s a varied, hands-on field role suited to someone who enjoys solving mechanical problems, working independently, and being out among growers. Whether you’re diagnosing a fault in the field, carrying out a scheduled service, or completing a job report, you’re the person who makes sure the equipment is ready when the weather turns.

What you’ll be doing

Service, maintenance and repair

- Servicing, maintaining and repairing frost fans and tree shakers in the field.
- Diagnosing and resolving mechanical, engine and machinery faults.
- Carrying out repairs to manufacturer and safety standards.

Scheduled maintenance and safety

- Performing scheduled maintenance on the cadence set by Orchard-Rite standards.
- Completing safety inspections and identifying faults before they become failures.
- Working to a safety-first standard at all times, including when working at heights on frost fans.

Field service and customer support

- Attending field service calls across the Riverland area and surrounding regions as reasonably required.
- Responding to breakdowns during peak frost and harvest periods.
- Being a professional, helpful point of contact for growers on site.

Documentation and reporting

- Completing service documentation, job records and customer reports accurately and on time.
- Recording parts used and work performed to support invoicing and warranty.
- Flagging recurring faults, parts needs, or equipment concerns to the Service Manager.
- Other duties within your skills and competency, as directed.

About you

- Strong mechanical aptitude, with the ability to diagnose and repair engines and machinery.
- A current Australian driver licence (essential).
- Willingness to travel to customer sites and to work reasonable additional hours during peak periods (generally February to April and August to October).
- Able to perform the physical requirements of the role, including working outdoors, at heights on frost fans, and lifting and handling equipment.
- Comfortable working independently and managing your own schedule in the field.
- A safety-first attitude and a focus on quality customer service.
- Eligible to work in Australia.

Bonus points for

- A relevant trade qualification - diesel, automotive or plant mechanic, fitter, or electrical (strong practical experience will also be considered).
- Experience servicing agricultural, horticultural or heavy equipment.
- A background in agriculture, viticulture, or a related rural industry.
- Familiarity with working at heights and the relevant safety requirements.

What we’d love to see in you

- Reliable and dependable - growers count on you to turn up and follow through.
- A practical problem-solver - you enjoy working out what’s wrong and fixing it properly.
- Safety-conscious - you look after yourself, your workmates, and the people around you.
- Self-directed - you manage your own day in the field without needing constant oversight.

- Customer-focused - you represent Orchard-Rite well with growers on their property.
