SWI Fencing is growing, and we’re looking for a Site Manager to take charge of the day-to-day delivery of major fencing and construction projects across Western Australia.
This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who knows what a well-run site looks like and has the confidence to make it happen.
You’ll be the person on the ground making sure the work gets done safely, efficiently, to the required quality and in line with the programme.
When the Project Manager isn’t on site, you are SWI’s eyes, ears and hands on the ground. You’ll lead the site team, coordinate subcontractors and trades, manage production and solve problems before they become bigger problems.
What does “own the site” mean?
It means you know what is happening today, what needs to happen tomorrow, and what could derail the job next week.
You’ll take day-to-day ownership of:
- Safety, environmental and quality performance on site
- Leading Site Supervisors and Fence Installers
- Coordinating subcontractors, trades and site interfaces
- Driving daily and weekly production against the project programme
- Managing labour, plant, equipment and materials
- Site logistics, deliveries, access and housekeeping
- Running pre-starts, toolbox talks and site coordination meetings
- Implementing SWMS, permits, ITPs and the Quality Plan
- Conducting quality inspections and managing defects
- Identifying delays, risks and non-conformances early
- Resolving site issues, trade clashes and access constraints
- Representing SWI with clients, certifiers and site stakeholders
- Providing accurate daily/weekly reporting to the Project Manager
- Supporting the project through to practical completion and handover.
You’ll have genuine authority on site The Project Manager owns the overall project - programme, budget, delivery risk and client relationship. You own the site.
You’ll work closely with the Project Manager/Senior Project Manager and Head of Delivery, turning the project plan into what actually happens on the ground. That means being able to say: “This is what’s happening on site. This is what’s going well. This is the problem.
This is what I’m doing about it. And this is what you need to know.”
Accurate reporting and early escalation are critical to the role.
We’re looking for a leader not just a supervisor
You might be a current:
- Site Manager
- Construction Manager
- Senior Site Supervisor
- Leading Hand ready for the next step
You’ll ideally have several years of hands-on experience in fencing, civil or broader construction, with a proven ability to directly lead site crews, supervisors and subcontractors.
More importantly, you’ll be someone who:
- Leads from the front and is visible on site
- Sets and maintains high safety standards
- Can direct trades and subcontractors confidently
- Makes practical decisions quickly
- Can manage multiple trade interfaces without losing control
- Reads drawings, specifications and construction methodology
- Understands sequencing, productivity and programme
- Communicates clearly with the Project Manager
- Can coach and get the best from the people around them
- Doesn't walk past a problem hoping someone else will deal with it.
Safety isn't a paperwork exercise at SWI, the Site Manager has primary day to day responsibility for safety on site.
That means being visible, setting the standard and making sure SWMS, permits, ITPs and site controls are actually followed not simply filed away.
You’ll lead pre-starts and toolbox talks, identify hazards, respond to issues and escalate incidents, near misses and compliance concerns promptly.
If your approach to safety is “someone from HSEQ will deal with it”, this isn't the role for you.
If your approach is “I own the standard on my site”, we want to hear from you.
What you'll bring
Required:
- Several years' experience in a site-based supervisory or construction management role
- Experience in fencing, civil or broader construction
- Demonstrated experience leading site crews, supervisors and subcontractors
- Robust practical HSEQ and safety leadership
- Experience with SWMS, permits, ITPs, inspections and quality control
- Ability to read drawings, specifications and construction methodology
- Strong understanding of site sequencing and trade interfaces
- Trade qualification and/or qualification in Construction Management, Civil/Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
- White Card
- Current driver's licence
Relevant tickets such as RIW card, Working at Heights and Traffic Control will be highly regarded where relevant to the project.
Why join SWI Fencing?
You’ll join a growing business delivering high-security fencing and construction projects across significant infrastructure environments.
You’ll work alongside experienced Project Managers, Senior Project Managers, Commercial, Procurement and the HSEQ team but you’ll have genuine responsibility for what happens on your site.
This isn't a role where you're expected to simply “supervise the works.” You’re expected to lead the works.
The person we're looking for
We’re not overly interested in job titles. We’re interested in how you operate.
- Can you walk onto a busy site and establish control without creating chaos?
- Can you get a crew behind you?
- Can you hold a subcontractor to the required standard?
- Can you spot a problem before it becomes a delay?
- Can you make the call when something isn't right?
- Can you keep the Project Manager informed without needing someone to chase you?
- And when the pressure is on, are you the person people look to?
If the answer is yes, we should talk.
Ready to take ownership?
If you take pride in a well-run site, know how to lead people, and want genuine responsibility for delivery, apply now.
Tell us about the projects you've led, the teams you've managed and the type of site you know you can own.
