Your Role at St John of God Ballarat Hospital An exciting opportunity has become available for a Grade 1 or Grade 2 Speech Pathologist to join the Allied Health team at St John of God Ballarat Hospital on a 12-month fixed-term basis.

New graduates are welcome to apply. St John of God Ballarat is one of Victoria’s largest regional private hospitals, providing a broad range of medical, surgical and rehabilitation services. The hospital has 256 beds and supports both inpatient and outpatient care across a diverse range of specialties.

As part of our Allied Health team, you will have the opportunity to work across acute and sub-acute rehabilitation settings, supporting patients with a range of medical, neurological, orthopaedic and general rehabilitation needs. Ballarat provides comprehensive inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation, with access to a rehabilitation gym and onsite hydrotherapy, supported by a multidisciplinary team including physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech pathologists, dietitians and exercise physiologists.

The Position

- Provision of Speech Pathology assessment and intervention for patients with communication, cognitive and swallowing disorders.
- Development of individual therapy programs, including short and long-term goals, based on patient needs and clinical presentation.
- Assessment and management of patients across acute and rehabilitation settings.
- Documentation of assessment results, treatment procedures and patient progress within the medical record.
- Participation in relevant client-related meetings,



including ward rounds, family conferences and patient review meetings.
- Providing education and support to patients and their families regarding communication and swallowing difficulties.
- Making appropriate referrals and recommendations for further assessment, treatment or community support.
- Working collaboratively with patients, families and the multidisciplinary team to support positive patient outcomes and discharge planning.
- Using an evidence-based, problem-solving approach to clinical care.
- Contributing to quality improvement and service development activities.
- Completion of relevant administrative duties, including clinical documentation and statistical reporting.

To be successful in this role, you will have A tertiary qualification in Speech Pathology and current full membership with Speech Pathology Australia. We welcome applications from new graduates through to experienced Grade 2 Speech Pathologists.

For experienced Grade 2 clinicians, experience in rehabilitation or a relevant healthcare setting, together with the ability to contribute to supervision, mentoring,



quality improvement and service development, will be highly regarded. Experience working with patients experiencing communication, cognitive and swallowing difficulties, particularly within acute or rehabilitation settings, will be highly regarded.

- Salary: $72,992 - $117,553 (pro rata for part time), plus12% superannuation
