Employment type: Full-time, Monday to Friday
Location: Fairfield, Sydney
About TR Savage & Son
TR Savage is a fourth-generation Australian manufacturer of furniture, lighting, door hardware and homewares. Alongside our own products, we manufacture highly technical components for a small group of long-standing contract customers.
The role
This role keeps materials coming in and orders going out, and keeps our contract manufacturing customers informed along the way. You will own purchasing, inbound and outbound logistics, and sales order administration for our contract accounts. Because you are the person buying the materials and booking the freight, you will also be the person who knows exactly where each job is at.
The workload has a steady base of purchasing and logistics, with contract order activity that comes in waves. You will need to be comfortable prioritising when a busy order day lands alongside a freight issue.
Key responsibilities
Purchasing
- Raise and manage purchase orders for raw materials, sub-contracting and finished goods
- Source, quote and negotiate with suppliers on price, lead times and terms
- Maintain stock levels and reorder points to avoid stockouts and excess inventory
- Follow up suppliers on delivery dates and resolve discrepancies
- Reconcile supplier invoices against orders and receipts
Logistics
- Plan and book inbound and outbound freight, including carriers and couriers
- Coordinate deliveries from the Fairfield facility to customers and to our Surry Hills showroom
- Manage receiving, dispatch documentation and freight cost tracking
- Resolve delivery issues, damage and delays
Contract manufacturing account administration
- Enter and confirm sales orders for contract manufacturing customers
- Provide proactive, transparent order status updates to customers
- Liaise with production on schedules and material availability
- Support pricing conversations within agreed price lists and margins, escalating anything outside them
- Keep records accurate and up to date in our business system (Odoo)
Skills and experience
Essential
- Experience in purchasing, logistics, supply chain or order administration, ideally in manufacturing or distribution
- Confident using an ERP or inventory system (Odoo experience is a bonus)
- Clear and professional written and verbal communication
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy with numbers and documents
- Able to prioritise and stay calm when workload is uneven
- Comfortable negotiating with suppliers and carriers
Desirable
- Background in working within a manufacturing plant
- Experience dealing with trade or contract customers
- Knowledge of import and freight processes
What success looks like
- Materials arrive when production needs them, without tying up excess cash in stock
- Contract customers always know where their orders are, without having to chase
- Freight costs and delivery performance are tracked and improving
- Records in Odoo are accurate and processes are documented
What we offer
- A varied role at the centre of a respected, established Australian manufacturer
- Direct involvement in how the business runs, with room to shape processes
- Adaptable working arrangements, parking, laptop
- A close team where your work is visible and valued
Pay: $95,000.00 – $110,000.00 per year
