Summary:
As a Support Worker at DIYDG, you will provide person-centred, culturally secure, and trauma-informed support to children, young people, individuals, and families. The role focuses on empowering participants to achieve their goals, increase independence, strengthen community and cultural connections, and improve overall wellbeing. Support may be delivered across home, community, school, crisis accommodation, Short-Term Accommodation (STA), and NDIS environments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct support to children and young people with daily living, personal care, life skills, and community participation.
- Deliver trauma-informed, strengths-based, and culturally responsive support services.
- Promote child safety, wellbeing, and safeguarding at all times.
- Support participants to access education, community, recreational, cultural, and social activities.
- Provide overnight, on-call, and emergency support services when required.
- Maintain compliance with NDIS Practice Standards, Child Protection requirements, and organisational policies.
- Contribute positively to DIYDG’s values, culture, and commitment to empowering young people and communities.
Qualifications and Requirements:
Essential
- - Certificate IV in Community Services, Disability, Youth Work, Individual Support, Child, Youth & Family Intervention, Allied Health Assistance, or a related field (or currently working towards or willing to enroll).
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Blue Card (Working with Children Check) and NDIS Worker Screening Clearance (Yellow Card)
- Hold a Driver’s Licence.
Desirable
- - Experience working with children and young people involved with Child Safety.
- Experience supporting people with disability and complex support needs.
- Knowledge of NDIS Practice Standards and Quality Indicators.
- Understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and culturally safe
- Experience delivering culturally responsive support services.
