Our success depends on our ability to identify, engage and mobilise highly specialised talent quickly and effectively. IAG is recognised as a Veteran Friendly Employer under the Veteran Employment Program.

The Role We're looking for an experienced Systems Integration Engineer to support a Defence capability project in Canberra. You'll establish interoperability assurance profiles and build a comprehensive data set across the communications systems used in a large, integrated networked environment, helping reduce the risk of delivering mission systems.

You'll consult with system owners and stakeholders to inform capability reviews, and identify opportunities to increase interoperability so the end-to-end network stays resilient. The role runs from capturing the current capability baseline through to defining the future state, and it needs someone who can work with senior stakeholders and interpret technical information about Defence communications and information systems.

Key Responsibilities

- Establish interoperability assurance profiles and develop a comprehensive data set across the communications systems in the integrated environment
- Identify and capture the current capability baseline (architecture)
- Define and develop a high-level capability trajectory and roadmap
- Review and develop operational scenarios, vignettes and use cases
- Capture stakeholder needs through stakeholder engagement

- Assess strategic alignment and explore broader Defence, government and industry insights
- Identify drivers for change
- Assess the current capability and trajectory, informed by the capability baseline and refined needs, and identify gaps
- Develop a current trajectory paper (future state with key uplifts identified)
- Design and agree capability target state uplifts
- Identify dependencies and constraints, and identify and assess risks
- Develop a high-level program roadmap and schedule
- Explore finance, delivery and operating model options
- Research and analyse architecture, interfaces and interoperability, producing the capability baseline, capability trajectory paper, draft strategy and final strategy
- Manage and refine senior capability stakeholder input into the project, including engagement management plans, stakeholder engagement plans and monthly reports
- Support capability reviews in consultation with system owners and stakeholders

Required

- Current NV2 security clearance
- Experience in Systems Architecture and Integration
- Extensive experience and knowledge of Defence communications and information systems and the stakeholder community
- Demonstrated experience in Defence programs, design or concept development roles
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, including the ability to interpret technical information about Defence communications and information systems and integrated defence systems

- Project or program management experience within a Defence context
- Understanding of staff processes within operational headquarters
- Knowledge and experience working within the Defence Capability System
- Extensive experience and knowledge of ground-based Defence systems, planning and execution
- Knowledge and experience of Tactical Data Link (TDL) networks, specifically Link-16
- Demonstrated experience that fits the scope of work and duties above
