Element Queensland is seeking an experienced and capable Operations Manager to lead day-to-day field operations across our landscaping, grounds maintenance, horticultural and related services. This is a hands-on operational leadership role. You will bring together people, planning, clients, resources and commercial awareness so our teams are well deployed, properly equipped and consistently deliver high-quality work.

This is not a desk-based role managed through spreadsheets. You will be visible across the business—supporting Team Leaders, visiting sites, resolving issues, setting priorities, and building the structure and accountability our field teams need to excel.

The Role

Reporting to the Director, you will be accountable for coordinating and improving Element Queensland’s field operations.

- Plan and schedule multiple crews across multiple sites

- Coordinate personnel, vehicles, plant and equipment

- Oversee landscaping, grounds maintenance and related field services

- Support the delivery of contracts and projects

- Coach and develop Team Leaders

- Manage workforce performance and accountability

- Lead recruitment, onboarding and workforce planning

- Build solid operational relationships with clients

- Monitor safety, quality and compliance

- Identify and address operational risks early

- Improve productivity and resource utilisation.

- Maintain commercial awareness of labour, overtime, rework and operating costs.

- Give the Director clear visibility across operations.

The Person we're looking for

You may be an Operations Manager, Contract Manager, Senior Supervisor or experienced field leader ready for broader responsibility.

Ideally,



your background will include:

- Experience in commercial landscaping and maintenance

- Experience in grounds care and maintenance

- Experience in horticultural services

- Experience in landscape construction

- Experience in field-based services or contract service delivery

Equally important is proven experience leading people and managing competing operational priorities

- Plan ahead instead of constantly reacting

- Take ownership and follow through

- Make decisions with confidence

- Hold people accountable while retaining their respect

- Build others’ capability rather than doing everything yourself.

- Communicate clearly with field teams, management and clients.

- Handle difficult conversations when necessary.

- Understand the commercial impact of operational decisions.

- Bring solutions and recommendations, not just problems.

- Move confidently between field work, client meetings and management discussions.

Success means an operation that is well planned, visible and accountable. Team Leaders understand expectations. Crews have the right resources. Clients receive what was promised. Safety and quality standards remain high. Issues are identified early and resolved at the right level.
