We are currently seeking Catering Assistants to support our kitchen and catering teams across our residential aged care homes.
About the Role
As a Catering Assistant, you will play an important role in supporting the health, wellbeing and dining experience of our residents through the preparation, presentation and service of nutritious meals.
Working collaboratively with the Cook, General Manager and wider care team, you will assist with meal preparation, food service, kitchen cleaning and maintaining hygiene standards. You will help create a welcoming dining environment that promotes residents' comfort, dignity and enjoyment while ensuring all food safety and infection control requirements are met.
Our employees are employed under the St Basil's NSW/ACT Enterprise Agreement 2024, with Catering Assistants generally classified as Catering Services Level 3, earning up to $30.28 base per hour.
About You
You are passionate about supporting older people and understand the important role that quality food and hospitality services play in residents' wellbeing and quality of life.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Demonstrated experience in food preparation and catering services, ideally within aged care, healthcare or a large-scale catering workplace
- Understanding of infection control, food safety and cleaning standards
- Knowledge of manual handling practices and general equipment maintenance
- Strong verbal communication and customer service skills
- Ability to build positive relationships with residents, families, staff and visitors
- Demonstrated problem-solving and prioritisation skills
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment while also working independently
- A compassionate and respectful approach when interacting with older people
- Australian work rights
- NDIS Worker Screening Check (or willingness to obtain)
