If you’re an experienced Family Lawyer who is ready for more ownership of your matters, more involvement within the team and the opportunity to start building your mentoring experience, this role offers exactly that.
Our client is a well-established boutique practice on the Gold Coast with a strong Family Law offering and a close-knit, down-to-earth team.
They are looking for a Family Lawyer with 3+ years’ PAE who is confident managing their own files, enjoys working directly with clients and is ready to take on a little more responsibility within the practice.
You’ll work closely with the Principal, manage a varied Family Law caseload and provide guidance and support to the Junior Lawyers within the team.
THE ROLE
You’ll work across a broad range of Family Law matters, including:
- Parenting matters
- Property settlements
- Domestic Violence matters
- Court proceedings and appearances
- Negotiations and dispute resolution
- Drafting court documents, correspondence and agreements
- Managing files from initial advice through to resolution
You’ll be trusted to take carriage of your own matters, while still having direct access to the Principal when you need another perspective.
There is also a genuine opportunity to mentor and support a Junior Lawyer, making this a solid next step for someone who wants to begin developing leadership experience without moving away from hands-on legal work.
Experience across Wills & Estates would be well regarded and there is scope to assist in this area, however it is not essential.
WHY MAKE THE MOVE?
- Genuine autonomy over your own matters
- Work directly with an experienced and approachable Principal
- Opportunity to mentor and support a Junior Lawyer
- Varied Parenting, Property and DV work
- WFH flexibility
- Relaxed, close-knit office culture
- Plenty of client contact and ownership
- Scope to broaden into Wills & Estates if of interest
- A smaller team where your contribution and ideas are genuinely valued
ABOUT YOU
You’ll ideally have:
- 3+ years’ PAE in Family Law
- Strong experience across Parenting and Property matters
- Confidence appearing in Court
- Experience managing your own files
- Strong client communication skills
- Good organisation and file management
- The ability to work autonomously while still being collaborative
- An interest in supporting and mentoring junior lawyers
This would particularly suit someone who enjoys the autonomy of running their own matters but doesn’t want to be left on an island doing it.
You’ll have the independence to manage your files, the support of an experienced Principal when needed and the opportunity to take a genuine step forward in responsibility without the layers and hierarchy of a larger firm.
