Engineering Risk Management (ERM) is seeking a talented Drainage & Flooding Engineer to take a leading role in delivering stormwater drainage, hydrology and flood resilience solutions across our expanding portfolio of infrastructure projects.
With a strong pipeline of projects for Transport for NSW and local councils, you'll have the freedom to take ownership, influence technical decisions and play a key role in growing our drainage and flooding capability.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead or contribute to the design and delivery of stormwater drainage, hydrology and flood management solutions across transport and civil infrastructure projects.
- Undertake and oversee hydrological and hydraulic modelling, flood impact assessments and stormwater management strategies.
- Develop and review drainage designs, including pit and pipe networks, culverts, open channels, subsurface drainage, overland flow paths and WSUD systems.
- Undertake and review modelling using DRAINS, TUFLOW and other relevant platforms, integrating outputs with 12d Model, Civil 3D and GIS-based design workflows.
- Provide technical input,
design reviews and quality assurance, ensuring compliance with TfNSW, Austroads, ARR and local council requirements.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and engage directly with clients and authorities to deliver innovative, practical and constructable solutions.
- Mentor and support engineers and designers, sharing knowledge and building technical capability across the team.
- Contribute to the growth of ERM's drainage and flooding capability through technical innovation, improved design standards and digital engineering initiatives.
About You
- A degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering (or equivalent), with demonstrated Australian experience in drainage, hydrology and/or flood engineering.
- Strong technical knowledge of stormwater drainage design, hydrological and hydraulic analysis, and relevant TfNSW, Austroads, ARR and local council requirements.
- Experience with industry-standard software such as DRAINS, TUFLOW, 12d Model, Civil 3D and GIS platforms, relevant to your area of expertise.
- Ability to independently deliver technical work, coordinate multidisciplinary inputs and solve complex engineering challenges.
- Strong communication, technical reporting and stakeholder engagement skills, with the confidence to work directly with clients.
- A proactive, solutions-focused mindset,
a commitment to engineering excellence and an interest in professional growth and mentoring others.
- CPEng or equivalent professional accreditation is desirable, with support available for those working towards registration.
