The Chance
Exciting things are happening at Austin Group. As we continue to grow and evolve, we are seeking an experienced Fractional Procurement Lead to establish and drive our procurement capability across the Group.
Reporting to the Head of Finance and partnering closely with key leaders across our brands and support functions, you will lead procurement strategy, supplier management and commercial negotiations to deliver sustainable value, operational efficiencies and meaningful commercial outcomes.
This is a unique opportunity for a highly experienced procurement professional seeking a flexible, fractional engagement (3 days per week) where they can make a significant impact without the commitment of a full-time executive role.
Why this opportunity is different
This is not a traditional procurement role or consulting engagement. As an extension of our leadership team, you will help shape how procurement is approached across the Group, bringing commercial rigour, strategic insight and practical execution to a business that is continuing to evolve and grow.
The engagement has been designed to create a genuine partnership, combining a fixed remuneration component with a performance-based reward structure aligned to the delivery of measurable commercial outcomes.
We are looking for a long-term partner who is motivated by creating sustainable value, building strong supplier relationships and leaving a lasting impact on the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a Group-wide procurement strategy aligned to business objectives.
- Identify and deliver sustainable cost savings and value-creation opportunities across key spend categories
- Lead strategic sourcing initiatives, tender processes and supplier negotiations
- Establish procurement policies, governance frameworks and best-practice processes
- Manage supplier relationships and contract performance to maximise value and minimise risk
- Review and optimise spend across categories including logistics, technology, packaging, marketing, professional services and retail operations
- Partner with internal stakeholders to improve procurement planning and decision-making.
- Support sourcing and supply chain teams with commercial negotiation expertise
- Introduce reporting, analytics and performance measures to improve procurement outcomes
- Identify opportunities to leverage AI and technology to enhance procurement efficiency and effectiveness
- Build procurement capability across the business and foster a strong commercial mindset
About you
You are a commercially astute procurement professional who enjoys influencing change, building robust supplier partnerships and delivering measurable business outcomes. You will hold a Bachelor’s degree in commerce, Business, Supply Chain, Finance, Law or a related discipline. A professional procurement qualification (for example MCIPS) is well regarded.
You will bring:
- A minimum of 8 years' experience in procurement, strategic sourcing, category management or commercial leadership roles
- A proven track record of delivering measurable cost savings and commercial results
- Strong supplier negotiation and contract management expertise
- Experience developing procurement strategies and governance frameworks
- Exceptional stakeholder management and influencing skills
- Strong commercial,
analytical and problem-solving capabilities
- Experience within retail, consumer goods, apparel or multi-site businesses will be highly regarded
- The ability to operate strategically while remaining hands-on and outcomes-focused
- Previous experience in consulting, advisory, interim or fractional leadership roles is advantageous
Why join Austin Group?
- Flexible working arrangements
- The opportunity to influence and drive business-wide commercial outcomes
- Exposure to senior leaders and strategic decision-making
