We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Lure Driver to join our racing operations team at THE Q. As a key member of our racing team, you will be responsible for operating the lure safely, accurately and consistently across race meetings and trials. This permanent, full-time salaried position offers an exciting opportunity to bring your experience to Queensland’s leading greyhound racing facilities.
About Us
The Q, located at 70 Ipswich - Boonah Rd, Purga, Queensland 4306, is a state-of-the-art greyhound racing facility situated on the outskirts of Ipswich. The facility includes 3 separate race tracks, a community club complete with a 350-seat restaurant, sports bar and gaming room.
The Club is committed to attracting the best talent in greyhound racing and delivering high standards of racing, safety and operational performance. We are open to supporting the right candidate to relocate from interstate to join our team.
Tasks & Responsibilities
- Operating the lure safely and accurately during race meetings and trials.
- Maintaining consistent lure positioning, speed and performance in accordance with racing requirements.
- Working closely with racing officials and operational teams to ensure the smooth delivery of race meetings.
- Conducting pre-operational checks and identifying and reporting equipment faults or maintenance requirements.
- Ensuring compliance with racing rules, Club policies and procedures, and workplace health and safety requirements.
- Maintaining concentration, situational awareness and sound judgement in a fast-paced racing environment.
- Maintaining equipment and supporting continuous improvement across racing operations and safety.
Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum 5 years' experience Lure driving.
- Demonstrated ability to operate the lure safely, accurately and consistently in a professional racing environment.
- Strong understanding of greyhound racing operations and relevant racing requirements.
- Excellent vehicle control, timing, judgement and attention to detail.
- Solid communication skills and the ability to work effectively with racing officials and operational teams.
- High level of reliability, professionalism and accountability.
- Flexibility to work the hours required to support race meetings and trials.
