Assistant Accountant

About Us
Tyche Asset Management Pty Ltd is an Australian asset management company involved in investment management, property and hospitality-related businesses.
We are seeking a motivated, detail-oriented and organised Assistant Accountant to join our team in Sydney.
This is an excellent chance for an accounting qualified looking to develop their skills across financial accounting, management reporting, payroll, compliance and general business administration.
The successful candidate will work closely with the finance team and management, supporting the day-to-day financial and administrative operations of the business and its related entities.
Key Responsibilities
Accounting & Financial Support
Process daily accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions, including supplier invoices, customer receipts and payment reconciliations.
Maintain accurate general ledger records and prepare accounting journal entries.
Assist with month-end closing, bank reconciliations and financial reporting.
Prepare supplier payments and support cash flow monitoring and forecasting.
Knowledge of payroll processing, superannuation and payroll tax.
Assist with the preparation and lodgment of BAS, payroll tax returns and other tax compliance requirements.
Support budgeting, financial analysis and monthly management reporting.
Assist with intercompany transactions and reconciliations across multiple entities.
Payroll & HR Administration
Assist with payroll processing, superannuation payments and employee leave records.
Maintain employee records,
employment documentation and onboarding processes.
Support general HR administration and compliance requirements.
Office Administration
Manage general office administration, filing and document management.
Coordinate office supplies, equipment and service subscriptions.
Prepare correspondence, maintain records and provide administrative support to management.
Assist with internal coordination and day-to-day office operations.
Compliance & Reporting
Assist with ASIC lodgments, external audits and corporate compliance documentation.
Support financial and regulatory reporting for corporate entities and investment funds.
Maintain accurate and confidential financial and corporate records.
Provide ad hoc accounting, reporting and administrative support as required.
About You
The ideal candidate will have:
A degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance, Business or a related discipline.
Previous experience in an Assistant Accountant, Accounts Officer or similar accounting role.
Good knowledge of accounting principles, accounts payable and receivable, and bank reconciliations.
Familiarity with Australian taxation requirements, including GST and BAS.
Experience using accounting software such as Xero, MYOB or QuickBooks.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
Strong attention to detail, organizational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
A proactive attitude and willingness to assist with both accounting and administrative responsibilities.
The ability to work independently and collaboratively within a small team.
Desirable but not essential:
Experience in property, hospitality, investment management or financial services.
Experience working with multiple companies, trusts or investment entities.
Progress towards CPA or CA qualification.
