Female Disability Support Worker – Complex Personal Care & Daily Living

About the Role
Empower Your Abilities (EYA) is seeking 2–3 experienced, reliable and compassionate female Disability Support Workers to support an adult male NDIS participant with complex physical disabilities and significant mobility limitations.
The role involves personal care, continence management, safe repositioning, meal preparation and daily living support. The participant weighs approximately 130 kg, so applicants must be confident and competent in providing physically demanding personal care safely, using appropriate equipment and two-person assistance where required.
We are looking for dedicated workers who respect participant dignity, independence, safety, choice and continuity of care.
Available Shifts
- Monday: 8 am–3 pm or 10 am–6 pm
- Tuesday: 8 am–3 pm or 10 am–6 pm
- Wednesday: 10 am–6 pm
- Thursday: 10 am–6 pm
- Friday: 10 am–6 pm
- Saturday: 11:30 am–4:30 pm (anticipated future shift; Saturday SCHADS Award rates apply as applicable)
The role is initially based in Leichhardt, with an anticipated relocation to Chatswood within 12 months.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide personal care, including showering or bed-based hygiene, dressing, grooming and continence aid changes.
- Assist with safe repositioning, transfers and mobility using prescribed equipment and approved manual-handling procedures.
- Prepare meals, beverages and snacks according to the participant's preferences.
- Assist with laundry, dishes and maintaining a clean, hygienic environment.
- Support grocery shopping, essential errands and community access.
- Assist with prescribed physiotherapy and occupational therapy routines as directed.
- Maintain accurate daily progress notes, personal care records and incident documentation.
- Monitor and report changes in the participant's health, wellbeing or support needs.
- Work collaboratively with the participant's family, support workers and allied health professionals.
Essential Qualifications and Requirements
Applicants must hold:
- Certificate III in Individual Support (Disability or Ageing and Disability), or an equivalent recognised qualification.
- Current NDIS Worker Screening Clearance.
- National Police Check.
- Working with Children Check.
- Current First Aid and CPR certificates.
- Medication Administration Certificate or relevant competency training.
- Infection Prevention, Control and Waste Management Certificate.
- Manual Handling Certificate relevant to disability support.
- Current Australian driver's licence.
- Comprehensive vehicle insurance that covers work-related use.
- Australian citizenship, permanent residency or a valid visa with appropriate working rights.
- Two verifiable professional references from current or previous employers or direct supervisors in disability or aged care.
A reliable SUV suitable for agreed transport duties is desirable.
Applicants must communicate clearly in English, understand care instructions and complete accurate written records.
Experience and Personal Attributes
We are particularly interested in applicants with:
- Experience supporting people with acquired brain injury, stroke or complex physical disabilities.
- Experience with continence care, personal hygiene and bed-based support.
- Confidence supporting people with significant mobility limitations.
- Competence in secure manual handling, including appropriate equipment and team assistance.
- Patience, reliability, professionalism and respect for participant choice.
- Availability for ongoing shifts and continuity of care.
