Summary:

The psychiatrist is responsible for diagnosing, treating, and preventing mental health issues. They provide counselling, therapy, and medication management, and work with other healthcare professionals to develop treatment plans.

Responsibilities:
Diagnose and treat mental illness, including mood and anxiety disorders, psychosis, and substance abuse.
Develop and implement treatment plans for patients in collaboration with other healthcare specialists.
Provide psychotherapy and counselling to patients.
Prescribe medication as necessary and monitor patient response to treatment.
Conduct evaluations to determine the appropriate course of treatment for patients.
Maintain detailed records of patient care and treatment.
Stay current with new research, medications,



and therapies in psychiatry.
Attend meetings and participate in interdisciplinary teams to provide comprehensive care.

Qualifications:
Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree
Board certification in psychiatry
Valid state medical license
Knowledge of pharmacology and medication management
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work effectively in a team setting
Demonstrated commitment to patient care and safety
Solid problem-solving skills
