Accounts Payable / Receivable OfficerBrisbane, Queensland At Populous, our projects bring people together—and behind every successful project is a finance team helping our people make informed decisions and deliver their best work.We are looking for an enthusiastic and detail-oriented Accounts Payable / Receivable Officer to join our Asia Pacific Finance team in Brisbane.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with early-career finance experience in the architecture, engineering or construction sector who is ready to broaden their capabilities.
You will work across accounts payable, accounts receivable and project accounting, while gaining exposure to month-end processes, regional reporting, audit and taxation activities.
Reporting to the Financial Controller, Asia Pacific, you will work closely with project leaders, suppliers, clients and finance colleagues across the region.
About the roleThis is a varied role combining day-to-day financial administration with project and general accounting responsibilities.
You will help ensure our projects are invoiced accurately, payments are processed efficiently and financial records remain complete and reliable.
Your responsibilities will include:Coordinating the preparation of project invoices in line with contractual terms, fee agreements and cash-flow requirementsWorking with project teams to obtain accurate and timely invoicing informationReconciling client receipts against invoices and maintaining accurate customer accountsFollowing up outstanding accounts professionally and constructivelyInvestigating invoice queries,



discrepancies and payment issuesReviewing and coding subcontractor and supplier invoicesEntering invoices into the finance system and ensuring the appropriate supporting documentation and approvals are in placeCoordinating supplier and subcontractor payments in accordance with agreed terms and project deliverablesMaintaining accurate supplier and financial recordsPreparing balance-sheet and profit-and-loss reconciliationsSupporting month-end and year-end close processesAssisting with annual audits and tax-return processes across the Asia Pacific regionProviding broader support to the Financial Controller and assisting with team coverage when requiredAbout youYou will be someone who enjoys working with detail while understanding the broader purpose behind the numbers.
You are organised, responsive and comfortable building relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.
To be successful in this role, you will bring:One to two years' experience in an operational finance, accounts or assistant accounting roleExperience working within an architecture, engineering or construction environmentSound knowledge of accounts payable,



accounts receivable and project accountingExperience working within multi-company and multi-currency accounting structuresStrong reconciliation skills and an understanding of month-end accounting processesConfidence working with finance and accounting systemsStrong written and verbal communication skillsThe ability to investigate issues, manage competing priorities and follow tasks through to completionA collaborative, service-focused approach when working with internal and external stakeholdersA tertiary qualification in accounting, finance or a related discipline will be highly regarded, as will experience in public accounting or using Deltek.
