The OpportunityContract role – 6 month contractWe're looking for a Databricks Architect to own the design and delivery of complex data platform transformations — migrations, modernisation, and optimisation, primarily on Databricks.
You'll work directly with enterprise clients, technical leaders, data engineers, and delivery teams to understand what exists today, define where it needs to go, and get it there.This role suits someone who's genuinely comfortable moving between architecture, hands-on engineering, and client advisory — not just designing the target state, but staying close enough to implementation to make sure it actually lands.What you'll doOwn the architecture and technical design of Databricks transformation and migration programsAssess legacy data platforms and define pragmatic migration strategiesDesign up-to-date Lakehouse architectures using Databricks and associated cloud technologiesBuild migration approaches for data warehouses, data lakes, ETL/ELT platforms, and legacy data estatesDesign data transformation, ingestion,



and processing pipelines for batch and streaming workloadsArchitect across Delta Lake, Unity Catalog, Databricks Workflows, Delta Live Tables/Lakeflow, and SparkEstablish data governance, security, lineage, and access control standardsDevelop workload optimisation, performance tuning, and cost management approachesRun technical discovery workshops with clients and translate business needs into architectureProduce architecture documentation, technical designs, and migration roadmapsProvide technical guidance to data engineers and other technical staffSupport proof-of-concepts and complex technical problem-solvingWhat you'll bringAzure Data Factory, Microsoft Fabric, Power BI, or other Azure servicesUnity Catalog and enterprise Databricks governanceDatabricks SQL and serverless architecturesCI/CD and Infrastructure as CodeReal-time/streaming architecturesDatabricks + AI/ML platform integrationDatabricks certifications (Data Engineer or Data Architect)Experience in regulated or large enterprise environmentsWhy Join Skillfield?
