Budget Analyst role within a State Government Organisation Budget Analyst Are you an experienced finance professional with astrong background in budgeting, financial analysis, and stakeholder engagement?
Haysis currently seeking a skilled Budget Analyst to join a large WA Governmentdepartment on an initial three-month temporary assignment.
This is an excellentopportunity to contribute to strategic budgeting, financial reporting, andresource planning within a complex and high-performing public sectorenvironment.
Your New Role Working within adedicated Budget Management team, you will support the development, monitoring,and reporting of operational and capital budgets while providing financialadvice to a broad range of internal stakeholders.
Key responsibilities willinclude: Assisting with the preparation and review of annual budgets, resource plans, and financial submissions.
Monitoring expenditure against budget and conducting detailed variance analysis.
Supporting budget allocation processes across multiple business units.
Preparing financial reports, briefing notes, and recommendations for senior management.
Analysing funding sources, financial performance, and budget outcomes.
Maintaining and reconciling financial management systems, including Oracle, Hyperion, Treasury SIMS, and Excel-based reporting tools.
Assisting in the development and review of financial policies, procedures, and key performance indicators.
Providing financial advice and support to executives, business managers, and finance stakeholders.
Building strong working relationships across the organisation and contributing to financial capability development through knowledge sharing and training.
What You'll Need to Succeed To be successfulin this role, you will demonstrate: Previous experience in financial management, budgeting, analysis, and reporting within a large or complex organisation.
Strong analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving skills.
Experience using corporate financial management systems and reporting tools.
Excellent written communication skills, with the ability to prepare detailed reports and submissions.
Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills, including experience working with senior leaders.
The ability to work collaboratively within a team while managing competing priorities.
A proactive approach to identifying financial issues and recommending practical solutions.
Relevant tertiaryqualifications in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related discipline, alongwith progress towards or membership of a skilled accounting body, will behighly regarded.
Public sector experience and knowledge of government budget processesare advantageous, but not essential.
