DescriptionAccounts Payable Officer | United Steel (GAM), Altona North VICJoin a growing team and take ownership of the accounts payable functionUnited Steel is looking for an organised and detail-focused Accounts Payable Officer to join our team in Altona North, VIC.This is a great opportunity for someone with accounts payable experience who enjoys working in a hands-on role and wants to be part of a supportive and established business.You'll be responsible for the day-to-day processing of supplier invoices and payments, while working closely with suppliers, internal teams and the wider finance function.About the RoleReporting to the Finance Manager, you'll manage the end-to-end accounts payable process and help ensure invoices and supplier payments are processed accurately and on time.Your responsibilities will include:Processing and coding supplier invoicesMatching invoices to purchase orders and delivery documentationChecking invoices for accuracy and resolving discrepanciesProcessing supplier payments and maintaining payment recordsReconciling supplier statementsResponding to supplier queries and following up outstanding issuesMaintaining accurate supplier and financial recordsAssisting with weekly and month-end accounts payable activitiesWorking closely with purchasing, operations and other internal teamsIdentifying and resolving invoice and payment issues in a timely mannerParticipating in cross-training to support team requirements and provide peer leave coverageAbout YouYou'll be someone who takes pride in getting the details right and enjoys keeping things organised.To be successful,
you'll have:Previous experience in accounts payable or a similar bookkeeping roleStrong attention to detail and accuracyGood understanding of accounts payable processesExcellent organisation and time management skillsStrong communication skills and a professional approach when dealing with suppliersComfortable using computers and have a basic working knowledge of Microsoft ExcelExperience with accounting or ERP systems required.
Experience with Pronto system highly regardedAbility to work independently while also being part of a teamA proactive approach and willingness to get involvedExperience in a manufacturing, construction, trade or distribution environment will be highly regarded but is not essentialBased in Altona North or surrounding areas, or willing and able to reliably commute to our Altona North siteWhy Join United Steel?
