Summary:
The School Nurse is responsible for providing medical care, administering medications, and developing health care plans for students with chronic medical conditions.
They also promote health education and advocate for the overall health of the school community.
Responsibilities:
Provide direct health care to students with acute or chronic health concerns
Develop and maintain individualised health care plans for students with chronic medical conditions
Monitor student health and ensure compliance with state and local immunisation requirements
Conduct health screenings and assessments
Promote health education and wellness programs for students, staff, and families
Serve as a resource to the school community on health-related issues
Follow established school policies and procedures for managing communicable diseases
Maintain accurate and comprehensive student health records
Collaborate with school administrators, teachers, and other professionals
Participate in training and career development activities
Qualifications:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in nursing with a current license to practice as a registered nurse
Certification as a School Nurse or willingness to obtain certification
Knowledge of paediatric and adolescent health care
Excellent communication skills
Skilled in problem-solving techniques
Strong computer skills
